I know Charles Thomas is a decent up and coming outfielder, but anything on the pitchers?

I hated to see the Braves give up Juan Cruz.....this guy has some nasty stuff and IMO could end up being a damn good closer one day. He is very young and saw limited action with Atlanta last year.

This traded will hurt the Braves in the long term but the short term is good. Thats usually how these types of trades go......

ok here is the skinny on the 3 players the Brave traded for Hudson....First off this goes to the Mets fans on board when yall got Pedro I told you the Braves would not stand by and let you become contenders :-)

1)Charles Thomas-Last season when the Braves were facing injury after injury they called up Charles Thomas. Thomas had not been producing and wasnt even considered a prospect but went to winter ball and worked on his swing and ended up hitting something like .350 and got called up and had a great rookie campaign. You will LOVE how he plays left field he will make some plays you will find outstanding.

2)Juan Cruz-Braves recieved Cruz from the Cubs last year for a rookie pitcher with control issues. Cruz CAN start but I do not see that happening. Cruz will probably be the A`s middle relief guy eating up about 100 innings probably going to the AL his era will be about 4. He might be good for some holds.

3)Dan Meyer-I have not seen pitch (I hope the new Braves network shows minor league games) I think he was the organizations number 3 prospect.

If Hudson signs a long term its a good deal for us but if not we gave away Chukie T for a rental player. I wonder how Hudson will do in the NL.

Now I had thought the Braves outfield was going to be Andruw Jones,Eli Marroe and Charles Thomas. Now I find out the not only Thomas are gone they traded Eli to Kansas city.

Word out of Atlanta is the Braves want Sammy Sosa and Farnsworth usually I would dispel those as rumors but with The Braves trading away 2 outfielders I think something huge is in the mix.

Fred-plan on going to a few Braves games next season. I usually like to try to go to about 30-50 a year not counting post season.

thanks guys...Huddy will be awesome for the Braves. But, he has missed time the past two seasons with the same injury (strained oblique). He was my favorite player on the team the past five years or so and I hate to see him leave.

I knew Thomas had a very good rookie season and should start in left.

Cruz will be in the bullpen more than likely. I guess the other guy will still be a prospect.

I knew Beane wasn't going to give Huddy up for nothing. This isn't Mark McGwire in the middle of the 1997 season. I guess we really won't know if this is a good deal for the A's for a few years.

Good thing there is no salary cap in baseball. That luxury tax is really working! Up yours Bud! :-)

yeah thats the one.....my prior job in atlanta was right next door to the guys who own that lot. They have a cab company on Manchester st off of cheshire bridge. Anyway, you wouldn't believe how much $$$ they make a season with that lot.......i think they usually charge 15 or 20 bucks a car....

if you are talking about Frank he makes a TON of money they even opened a bbq pit in the lot. During the 99 World series he charged $100 for those front spots right across the street....

Rasta those injuries the last 2 yrs have me a bit concerned. Me personally think that Mulder is the best of the aces but Hudson in the NL is a nice thought :-)

Rev,
Im a Mets fan and not in the most wishful-thinking-fantasy-land kind of way did I ever think for a second that signing Pedro would make the team contenders. But maybe thats just me. Smoltz back as a starter is the scariest development.

The SF Giants are going all the way in '05!

You saw it hear first.

And the boos will be defening whenever Bond's comes to the plate.... yes, I predict there will be much gnashing of teeth come October.

I think the Braves made a fucking huge steal getting Hudson for those 3. They were all very servicable, but Hudson is a top 10 starter, with a .700 winning percentage. It don't get much better than that.

But trading Eli, I don't know about that. There is obviously something else in the works.

this trade was a fucking joke and baseball needs a salary cap.

If we want all of the players on a level playing field (no steroids), we need the teams on a level playing field (like the NFL).

Brewers continue to fly under the radar adding quality talent to the roster and are already an even money bet for most improved team. Baseball experts every where agree that Brewers are a likely candidate to win the Central Division or enter the playoffs as the wild card.
