* not played + not heard
Well this was my first time seeing and hearing DSO and Promised Land was a weird one for the first song i've ever heard them play but by the first solo in TLEO I was feeling and hearing a high degree of skill in which he, John approached his modified Strat( diff neck prs?maybe not) leaning back and ripping in fluidly, tight runs, short fast bursts up and down the neck, and playing the slower ones effortlessly like the outro solo in Stella crawling, hearing each and every note crisply, you can say all he does is copy Jerry, but there is no way, for me after seeing him play tonight, that you can say he doesn't have skill. Don't know why they didn't play Row Jimmy in the first set but OK 2nd set very nice indeed nice HCS to open nice Loser, Let it Grow w/ the WRS prelude riff to close it cinched it for me being fall 73' deadlist is not mentioning Horns but I know on 9/11/73 Fierro plays and especially on the Let it Grow W/ WRS prelude ending I thought they worked it up that way and only played that w/horns that fall but maybe the horns didn't come till after the nassau run in any case a nice stella followed no OtherOne jam after drumz, The Eyes was I think as good as they can possibly get definitely the song of the night could have swore I heard spanish jam in there towards the latter part of the song a very good high energy Sugar mag to close out the 2nd set. Good stuff I recommend them highly if you don't have to drive too far( there not good like that!)and considering the tix price are under 20 bucks well worth it for a nicely played long show like the one tonight. One other thing, call me crazy But Donna Chick is HOT!!
nice review~ I have skipped them 4x now. I guess next time I will give them the dough though~
me too.
Wonder why they bailed on Row Jimmy?
>>>call me crazy But Donna Chick is HOT!!
Not only that, but she can *sing*! I've always said that the only part of the Dead they don't copy well is Donna, because this one has a good voice.
i was always wondering about that. Like hey, donna was a shitty singer most of the time, so when they have a girl singing does she have to sing chitty as well?
Yup Donna Chick can indeed sing too i.e playing, and spin and twirl she spun around like 6 times in a row at one point I thought she was going to fall out from dizziness...couldn't find one of just her.
