I was fortunate enough to attend this intimate evening with about 20 others to see the Fareed Haque Group at the House of Blues back porch stage. They played for roughly 2 hours and left us all with smiles pasted on our faces.

I couldn't believe what this group is pulling off musically. This is something to check out for anybody who is into jerry, jazz, indian music,or drum and bass grooves.

Fareed is a great musician with incredible versatility. His influences stretch so far in so many directions. His ability to fuse music from the East and West is nothing short of unbelievable and his solos are jaw dropping. His playing is very technical but also has depth and soul to it. Not an easy combination to achieve. His phrasings are so tight it is rediculous. The tabla player is no slouch either. His underlying grooves lock in perfectly with the other rythym instruments.

When this band is on they are a force to be reckon with. You have some really talented musicians playing together in this band. The instruments all mesh really well. There are alot of subtle things going on so it requires you to be an active listener.

The lineup for the Fareed Haque Group is:
Fareed Haque - Guitar and Vocals
Kalyan Pathak - Tabla and Voice
Jon Paul - Bass Guitar
Dan Leali - Drums
Dan Nimmer - Keys
J.CAPPO - DJ

I strongly urge anyone who hasn't seen them to check them out!

I agree, good review, Fareed is awesome as is Garajmahal his other project. I just wish he would solo more, too much keyboards. The rest of his band is good but he is unbelievable.

Usually they are taped. I think there is some on the archive. I have some from last fall Gr8fuldad if you email me we can set something up

I missed this one, but prefer the Fareed Haque Group to Garaj myself. Here are a couple pictures from the Blvd Cafe awhile back.
