this is getting ridiculous.

As of Sunday, Dec. 12, 2004, at least 1,289 members of the U.S. military have died since the beginning of the Iraq war in March 2003, according to an Associated Press count. At least 1,007 died as a result of hostile action, the Defense Department said. The figures include three military civilians.

Closer to 10,000 wounded and 5000 plus with mental difficulties. The severe nature of the physical wounds and the ability of the medical teams to save people who would have previously died has created real strains on rehab people. They don't know how to rehab these severely wounded soldiers. The VA has no funding and once they get discharged they fall into the hands of the VA. God help these poor men and women. My wife has a 1st cousin who's son is getting shipped off to Iraq. She is a big Bush supporter and she is already crying and worried. I hope that he makes out alright, but it sure is different when the shoe is on the other foot.

Good god.. Presidents do not normally attend funerals for fallen soldiers.. theyve been to memorial services .. but full blown funerals.. I think the onyl president in recent memory that has done that was LBJ and Reagen.

Top 11 reasons Dubya has not attended a funeral or memorial of any soldier killed in action during his presidency.

1. Dubya's new policy forbids coverage of arriving coffins at military bases, if Dubya were to attend, there would be media, ergo, he cannot attend.

2. So what if every other president has done it. If every previous president jumped in the lake, would he have to do that?

3. Hugging is what GOVERNORS do.

4. We're fighting this war with Clinton's armed forces, let him go.

5. Emotional scars from intermittent service in Texas Air National Guard are still too deep.

6. Funerals are generally poor opportunity to solicit campaign contributions.

7. Funny, so far none of those making the ultimate sacrifice have been related to anyone in the administration.

8. Like Donald Rumsfeld, trying to distance himself from the administration.

9. When you take 300 days off in three years, it's difficult to squeeze in ceremonial stuff.

10. Wouldn't get to wear cool flight suit.

11. Difficult to dispatch unsupportive family members to "free speech zones."
