Looks like the yanks got Pavano, whom one espn.com writer named as the biggest waste of money for whichever team signs him. Congrats NY.

Why Wells of all people? He will gorge on Fenway Franks and get into the 300 lb range, and then we have another old, ok pitcher. Maybe he can go jogging with Manny:-)

If you take Wells' quality starts, and add Pedro's (who we will probably sign by the end of next week)you have one good pitcher for an entire season

Pedro is still a helluva pitcher, he is just learning to go without the dominating fastball he used to have. I'd rather have Jamey Moyer for an old guy.

Another great move by Theo. I love this move. Boomer will have more wins than Pavano next year, and certainly more during crunch time, IMO. Then again, I think the rationale was to pick up a proven lefty. Pedro & Tek are next. Repeat?

I heard wells has been in the gym alot lately and has lost some weight. His back has been feeling alot better as well.

Hey, lets see what he can do back on the AL side, hopefully he does well with us.

I think wells is a great choice...his season may be fair but he has the xfactor when it comes to big games and you know he's just dying to prove that steinny made a mistake by not signing him.

AP Press Release:

"Wells Signs With Boston, Bottled Beer Prices Increase Due To Speculated Shortage"

At least all us fat, drunken mutants now have a guy to root for we can relate to.

Wells is certainly a good pickup from a psychological vantage point for Boston, provided he can pitch well, and late into the season.
Wells made no bones about his dislike for Steinbrenner when he left NY. It would only make sense that he would salavate over the chance to come back and beat his old team to advance to the series, provided things end up the way they have the last couple of years.
It will add to the rivalry for sure !

He also made no bones about pitching in Fenway when he was in pinstripes.

I like a guy who likes a challenge.

GUYS GOT A BAD BACK...

thats why the yanks tossed him. you'll see it as soon as he starts hanging his curve ball. its hard to throw a 12-6 curve ball with a bad back.

his career was over 2 years ago.
