You do know that armor issue was total crap.. the question that guy asked was made up from a reporter.. in other words it was a hoax
how do you explain all of the other troops applauding at his question? please, a hoax, not even close - who cares if a reporter put him up to it, our boys deserve the armor (and now because of the 'question' they're going to get it faster) - support the troops Patrick.
"but we go to war with the Secetary of Defense we have..." LOL!
Just because a reporter suggested that the soldier ask the question doesn't make it a hoax. How can a questionbe a hoax. Look up the word man. And it also doesn't make the question crap. It was a legitimate question and Rumsfeld looked like a total uncaring ass when he answered. Just because Bush's and Rummy's speeches are written by someone else does that make what they say crap and a hoax?

Im sorry I didnt hear the chorus of accolades after this plant asked his question.
How is he a plant? He is a soldier that was in the audience. He asked a legitimate question and there was a chorus of agreement with his question.
Where you been getting your news Patrick, Fox again? They probably edited out the applause.
"WASHINGTON - Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld told some 2,000 American troops at a town-hall session in Kuwait on Wednesday that he wanted tough questions, and that's precisely what he got -- an earful of complaints about some of the most difficult issues troops face.
One soldier said: "A lot of us are getting ready to move north (to Iraq) relatively soon. Our vehicles are not armored. We're digging pieces of rusted scrap metal and compromised ballistic glass that's already been shot up, dropped, busted -- picking the best out of this scrap to put on our vehicles to take into combat."
The military audience cheered."

Suggested??? He wrote the question out for him verbatim! .. this wasnt the truth.. there have been no reports to the pentagon, or anyone else suggesting our armed forces had to go through dumps for armor..
Now that being said.. I want our troops to go into battle with everything they need.. however part of battlefield tactis is improvistation. In every war we have fought soldiers have had to make sacrifices due to equipment shortages..etc.. these things happen.. I wouldnt think they would happen in todays military, but apparently they do.. Now I support the military fully and our troops.. but some of these foks need to stop their bitching.. they joined the military, not 4h.
THE AUDIENCE CHEERED!
did the reporter tell them to do that too?
>>>but some of these foks need to stop their bitching.. they joined the military
Stop the bitching Patrick? Oh, I can't wait to hear your bitching the day your draft number gets called.
First the flu vaccine, now armor for our troops and 6 million uninsured children. Life in the richest country in the world, man, can't beat it.

Heh.. well.. disciplined troops would have kept quite..
I really have nothing here.. if thats what there really doing than kudos for their ingenuity.. and shame on the gov't for not providing needed equip. It seems they have been doing to many cost benefit analysis in the pentagon lately..
How is he a plant? He is a soldier that was in the audience. He asked a legitimate question and there was a chorus of agreement with his question.
What are you talking about.. this guy wasnt even supposed to be there.. the questions were to be asked by soldiers.. which he was.. but he was attached to a reporter.. the reporter requested his soldier escort go to this q n a period so he could ask a question that was written by this reporter.. total plant..
Do you have proof that the reporter wrote the question out verbatim. Even if he did, it is still a legitimate question. Who worte out Rumsfeld's speech? Does that make what he said illegitimate. Get a grip Patrick. Bush doesn't care about the troops. We can't spend money on their equipemnt - we have to give it away to Halliburton. Too bad that the reporters that do ask the hard questions don't get called on at the press conferences. And if Bush does get a hard question, he just says whatever he wants to. "Hard work" "War on terror".
Well, if that's what it takes for reporters to get answers - I'm all for it. The rest of the troops seemed to agree with the question, though. The pentagon's cost benefit analysis goes like this. Will the cost of this benefit Halliburton?
Support the troops - Bring them home NOW!
Stop the bitching Patrick? Oh, I can't wait to hear your bitching the day your draft number gets called.
If you seriously believe there will be a draft your nuts. If they did reinstate the draft, which they wont, I will gladly serve.
$50 says Bush tries to reinstate the draft before his term is up.

This is a link to the ap story about this plant. I would expect a national guardsmen could be manipulated like this. They shouldnt even be over there to begin with considering most of them are no better than mitilias..

$50 says Bush tries to reinstate the draft before his term is up.
Your on.. I'll bet you 50 bucks it doesnt happen.. deal?
Deal. If you win, you will in four years, 1 month and 7 days. If I win, I will know sooner.
And you're right guardsmen shouldn't be there, but the fact is that if regular military get wounded the US govt. has to take care of them for life, not so with National Guard and reservists. The reason they are there is that it will save the govt. money, so more for Halliburton. None of our troops should be there.
And like there are never any "plants" in the crowd or at press conferences to lob softballs to that disgrace who is our president.
that's just not the same buncombe - how dare a member of the liberal news media recruit a soldier to ask a serious question that all of the troops have been dying to know the answer :>
The draft will start in June. No links, just rumors from a friend of a friend a political dinner.

This may take awhile. Bush better not lose me 50 bones on this one..
I love the "plant" story. Its just like the Dan Rather memo. Somehow the administration doesn't have to answer a question because it doesn't like the way it is asked. It doesn't matter who asks the question, the american people and the american military demand and deserve answers, not a run-around. It amazes me that people are so easily distracted from the real questions.
At the very best, Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Rove,
Rice, and all the rest of the self proclaimed "Vulcans"
are loose with the truth.
The phrase that immediately comes to mind with
respect to the Bush administration is,
"International War Criminals."
Whether it's falsified or exaggerated claims of
imminent threats; WMDs; Iraqi civilian
casualties; torture policies and initiatives;
the list goes on and on.
Then there’s Rummy’s most recent "misstatement"
about the reasons for lack of a sufficient
number of armored vehicles – blaming it
on "physics" – claiming that production
facilities are already running at maximum
production rates.
Excerpted from today’s LA Times:
WASHINGTON - The Army moved Friday to boost
production of armored Humvees for American
troops in Iraq by 100 a month, abandoning recent
assertions by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld
that soldiers could not be supplied with safer
vehicles because Pentagon officials could not
procure them any faster.

at best, loose with the truth...
I suspect it's something worse.
>>You do know that armor issue was total crap.. the question that guy asked was made up from a reporter.. in other words it was a hoax
It doesn't matter if it was planted. It was still a good question. And Rumsfeld gave one of the most callous, ungrateful, and insincere responses I've ever heard. Too bad Colin Powell left and Rumsfeld is staying.
How is his response callous or insincere.. he told them the truth.. Atleast he wasnt telling them what they wanted to hear...
>>The phrase that immediately comes to mind with

"International War Criminals."
Internatinal Terrorists more like it
>>How is his response callous or insincere.. he told them the truth.. Atleast he wasnt telling them what they wanted to hear...
He said that you go to war with the army you have not the one you want. He dissed every soldier saying that. He didn't sayequipment, he said army, meaning the troops. Of course, he never went to war. Had other things to do during Vietnam like the restof Bush and his cowardly minions.
>>Atleast he wasnt telling them what they wanted to hear...
Actually he wasn't telling the truth. He said it was a matter of physics not money. The company producing the armor said they could increase production by 10% but have not gotten the word for more orders. So when he said that they were doing everything hummanly possible he was lying.

I would say what he meant was equipment. Im sure it wasnt supposed to be a slam on the army personnel themselves.
I love how this administration loves to have intentions to what they say after they say them. One thing I look for from the people that end up in positions of power, be it "buy" election or "buy" appointment, is clear communications. When the powers that be have to start up a spin machine after anything has crossed their lips, it is a disservice to me and the rest of my fellow citizens who care enough to watch and participate in the process.
Funny that Nuclear Ned wants the soldiers to shut up regarding a life or death situation yet HE is over in "other stuff" bitching 'bout his employer switching his days off so he doesn't get a 3-day weekend. Typical right-wing clueless arrogance.
>> .. Bush better not lose me 50 bones ..
bones!?
as in american sawbacks?
.. Bush better not lose me 50 bones ..
now THAT is comical
>>This may take awhile. Bush better not lose me 50 bones on this one..
Don't worry in four years $50 won't be worth nothing anyhow.
>>Typical right-wing clueless arrogance.
The irony of it all!
Hey ned-
Quit defending Rummy!
He was wrong when he didn't supply vehicle armor, and when he didn't supply body armor...
What's worse is your boy W, who sent us to war on fabricated evidence in the first place-
TURN OFF PRAVDA!
I mean...TURN OFF FOX!
Sean Hannity should not be your main source for news...
total tool. uneffinbelievable
amazing & sad.
a total product of Fox "seig heil" News.
As are most of the american people.
Remember: something like 60-70% of Bush/Cheney voters believe that we are in Iraq because Saddam was behind 9/11.
A large percentage also believe Iraq was building nuclear weapons.
Want to know why?
The Bush administration fabricated some bullshit and 99% of us ate it up till it was too late.
And even now way too many people buy it.
Hussein was a murderer, but you don't demonstrate that by presenting false evidence to your own people and the world. Clinton would've handled it better, as would've Kerry or Gore given the chance

It's interesting to note that the right wing media did not throw out the "embedded reporter" as a scape goat until the day AFTER Rumsfeld was embarrassed. While the reporter might have helped the soldier frame the question, it was still the soldier's idea to ask it. Not only did he ask it once, he repeated it for Rumsfeld. Rummy offered this guy an out. A way for him to say, "No, I didn't just ask you about armor, I meant to ask, 'How is President Bush's Dog?'" Instead, Spc. Wilson repeated his question.
What hasn't been talked about on this thread is the fact that once Spc. Wilson (that's his name, remember?) asked his question, it gave other soldiers courage to ask their questions about stop loss policies, pay, and food. Did reporters write their questions too?
If you swallowed the "it's a matter of physics" in terms of vehicles and armor, then consider...
There are many abandoned factories in America that could be re-tooled for this effort.
There are domestic Hummers produced daily for the gluttonous Amerkian public. We could kill two birds (Humvee production for our troops and increased domestic fuel efficiency) with one stone here.
There are still thousands of manufacturing workers out of a job just begging to be put back to work.
If you consider these factors, you're left with one glaring question: Why is it a matter of physics when all of the infrastructure could be easily retooled to end this debacle quickly and efficiently?
The answer: money. It might not be a matter of money to the U.S. Government, but it IS a matter of profits for the corporations that would be called upon to provide this stuff to the troops.
Here's more evidence that corporations, as they exist in our government today, are tumors on our great Democratic Republic.
www.optruth.org - the soldiers have been asking questions for much longer than a couple of days ago.
