It was one magical rain soaked night in NYC..
Hit the 10:00 pm show last night at the Blue Note.

Pure magic. McCoy Tyner, Stanley Clarke and Billy Cobham really bring "it" and then some.

The music is warm and friendly..Yet very intense.
It just painted the most beautiful pictures
all night.

The crowd was a nice mix of people..Musicians, business men and deadheads..Young and old.
Also hot chics...Damn where do they all hide..

If you are not a jazz fan, I say go..You will be happily surprised..

Im still smiling and soaking it all in.

Definitely is top 1 or 2 show I have ever seen
in any musical format in my life.

McCoy, Stanley and Billy hung out after the show.
All 3 cats are down to earth friendly and way humble..

It was nothing but a pleasure to watch hard core
musicians doing what they love..

Just go...You will be smiling too..They are more than just a power trio of jazz..
Pure honest soul..

*jealous* ... sounds like a superb time! the best I can hope for is Joshua Redman coming sometime in March to Louisville - you dig on him at all?

Sorry for no setlist. I honestly didnt know most of the tunes. Which is why I can't believe how good
the show was.It was just comfortable like an
old sneaker. I nestled in and just boogied and got blown away all at once.

Well heck we all know about how music can take you places.

There was a flurry of jams and teases
I caught. "Favorite Things" jam, not the whole tune, way up tempo funky
and bluesy sound. Also caught Stanley touching on 3rd stone from the sun and Voodoo chile during
one long jam.
But the whole show was basically one long jam.

I remember watch Tyner's right hand. His fingers were flying so fast it was almost a blurr.
Melody and classical chops on the right, hammered by the left hand doing diminshed sounds that gave the music that creepy edge.

Billy doing the one handed rolls, making the single kick drum sound like 3 kick drums,
while hitting that ride that makes you groove.

Im saying to myself, man, Tyner and Cobham are what 70? They playing with the energy of 30 year olds.

WOW that's a supergroup if there ever was one. But man you gotta put down some serious BUCKS to see a show @ the Blue Note - and it's only half a show (early/late thing goin' on).

I got shut down taping McCoy one time (figured it was free outdoors in the park, they wouldn't care, but oh no, Johnny Law had other ideas), another time stealthed and got away with it - way back in the cassette days.

Caught the Wednesday early show. All three were very good in this trio combination.

$45 for a seat. $5 drink minimum and I had lots of Europeans and Asians sitting around me.

They only played for close to 1 hour with no encore.

I guess its the price you pay to sit in an intimate setting to see these three tremendous artists.

Sorry you got a short show.I went to the 10:00 pm show Thursday

We got about an hour and half or so..

Yeah that was still short to I guess..
Plus the meet and greet.

45 bucks yeah, but I sat right infront of them..

Only bought a couple of beers at the Blue Note..
Did my drinking before hand at a bar down the street.

I believe in seeing McCoy Tyner whenever possible. Timothy hits is, the guys really go where few bands do. Last time I saw them, it was all I could do to not stand up and deadhead dance in the stuffy NYC jazz club. Funky and spacy at the same time.

it is everything that music should be.
