LMFAO, the add in the middle of the article is for a t-shirt of the U.S. showing how the voting districts went, 'This is Bush Country'

I have mixed feeling here. Why are they homeless, because they cant find a job? If so, should a vet have priority of a non-vet who cant find a job either. Is this indicative of the war of is it because of a larger economic problem?

>should a vet have priority of a non-vet who cant find a job either.

they already do--check your local post office. they get extra points on the exam for past military service.......

http://usps.com/employment/employrequirements.htm

Military Service
Military service is treated as prior employment. Veterans must indicate service and submit Copy 4 of the DD Form 214, Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty.

I didn't have time to read the full article yet....but I gotta ask...what do you do to make a difference?
Do you volunteer in your home town to help Veterans?
Do you donate funds to your home town/local shelters to help Veterans?

Just curious.

Id say in this case, if you help the homeless... you help those vets too.

I do...always have....and not just the homeless, I do the best I can to help anyone I can.

I gave more this year than the past. My great idea was...I shop at Shaws and with their savings card and coupons everything non perishable I could 'buy one' 'get one free' I did and kept one for myself and donated the rest to a local pantry. You'd be surprised how it piles up.

I gave 2 Turkeys for Thanksgiving to a local shelter.

I've doubled my budget for xmas presents for needy children this year.

I donated 14 inches of my hair to Locks of Love.

I volunteered time making supply baskets for troops in Iraq.

Presently, I'm putting together a collection of books, school supplies and childrens clothing to send to Iraq.

It's a great feeling knowing the little I can afford to do makes a difference.

Last year on Christmas Eve as I prepared for the 2 hr. trip to my parents house... my truck key/ignition jammed and I couldnt get it started.

Story short, I opted to help with Sub for Santa. I had already donated some toys but in giving my time... very very fulfilling. I count that day as kind fate! Currently debating with myself whether or not to do it again.

>>> Do you volunteer in your home town to help Veterans?

Uh, I think the point was that we Govt (both sides guilty, but rah-rah "support our troops" Bushies more so) dont really support our Vets. Havent for a long time. Now less than ever.

That's great that you do some charity work, Seija, but you are missing the point... I think. We use our young men and women as pawns in the politicians games, just send em to the meat grinder, and when they have outlived their usefulness - FUCK EM. The shameful hypocrisy is enough to make ya puke.

That's the point.

And the Washington Times, come on people, LOOK CLOSER.

thank you very much. lets discuss how these young men are being treated as pawns in george bush's evil scheme to get oil revenues, and not about how much we contribute to charities...
