Jaret Wright went 15-8 with a 3.28 ERA for Atlanta in 2004.

JW had a great yr in 04...the question is though, whether it was a ("career year") blip in an otherwise mediocre career or the start of dominating things to come. Leo Mazzone (ATL)seems to be the pitching coach Guru, how much influence did he have? The kid can throw no doubt, but his post season career stats and overall career stats have "journeyman" written all over them.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By Rev. Buddy Greene (Randomposter) on Wednesday, December 08, 2004 - 10:34 pm: Edit Post

the Yankees like to overpay Braves pitchers who Leo brings back to life. Remember Chris Hammond? He had an era under 1.00 as a Braves but how much in New York? If Vasquez struggled as a Yank they think Jaret would do better? Hell Atlanta picked up Wright after he was released no other team wanted him for free and Atlanta who at the time had the best record in baseball picked him up.

Most former Braves pitchers havent done very well elsewhere.

1)Tom Glavine
2)Kevin Millwood
3)Denny Nagle

all have done nothing while Greg Maddux had a decent record but questionable stats in Chicago. The only former pitcher who has been any good has been Jason Schmidt. I think Wright will be more like Millwood then Schmidt.

millwood and nagle have never had me excited to watch em even way back in the braves days. glavine sucking in ny is a mystery. the yanks have mel and mel can pull the talent outta whoever. if jw loses a few inches then he could be a beast!

miss the chef rev? :-)

"miss the chef rev?"

no I do not miss him at all Chipper can hit the weak grounder in the playoffs just like Sheffield.I guess after seeing Bonds and Sheffield in the playoffs it certainly shows the roids stop working in october. :-)

upon further review~
this one looks a bit like the uhmmmm..Lady I was negotiating with to do BPhan and Crypt outside Yogi's after a Mule show.... cept she was of the negro persuasion

"Why I gotta do bowf a dem?"
" well...its Christmas time ..and they're hear on vacation. So how much?"

she paused ...for dramatic effect, naturally and said

"Fittee."

I jet back in, told BPhan~ he CLAIMS she was gone when he went out to see her. I'm thinking he gave her a 'five minutes-around the corner" nod

hey steelhead...
Allen joins a staff which also includes Joe Girardi, who is entering his first season as bench coach and catching instructor. Also returning are Stottlemyre, who will be in his 10th year as pitching coach, and Don Mattingly, who will be the team's hitting coach for a second consecutive year.

"Allen, 46, served as the pitching coach for Triple-A Columbus.... with the third-best ERA in the league at 4.20"

well you can't argue with those numbers
