Hey everybody ...Happy Holidays:
I got involved in this little corner of the world about a year ago and my life has been the sweeter for it. You know , I don't have to battle the dragon alone any more. Pretty Neat.

Well anyway, a big bonus is that last year a bunch of kind zoners gave away a bunch of great music ..and got me started on a new "habit".. collecting live shows.

In honor of all those kind folks I am going to offer my family of Hep Cats and Kittens my list to choose from. Just take a look at my list and pick out a show..it doesn't matter how many discs a show is, just pick any show, send me an email telling me what show you want, and an snail mail address to send it to and I'll burn you some Holiday tunes. This offer is open to all members of the Hep C forum and our friends who have offered their support and freebies to us over the last year. That means YOU and St. George, and WCD, and Maria, and Death Glider (wherever you are) and all our caregivers ...you know who you are. So don't be shy..I have a new spindle of disc's just ready to burn and some hot shows that need a new home.
Heres my list : http://db.etree.org/mac50us
Heres my email : mailto:mac50us@suscom.net
Now just pick out a show and send me your addy!
Peace..and Happy Holidays...mack

Mack, you are just too nice to do that. You and I have swapped so many shows that I will let the newer Pholks have the shot (poor choice of words) on this one.

Mack...You are sooooo Kind. Thanks

A really hard choice just became easy when I saw Grateful Dead 6-11-93 at Buckeye Lake Music Center, Hebron Ohio, and just to be sure I checked out the detailed listing. Yeah, that's the show with Sting as the opening act. I was there with my family. I will never forget the look that passed between my then-future daughter-in-law and I, when Sting took off his shirt to do his set. I had an old auntie who had the right phrase for such a happening, "the sweets of life."

It was a wonderful show, when the Dead played, and then as night fell, the music kept beating right through my heart, how I took in the sights and the feel and even the smell of the whole scene. It was my first show since the 70s after years of scraping by, going home after many years away. This indirectly led to the real sweets of life, because this concert eventually led to me meeting my husband Ike. Peace

Mack,

Looks like everyone is having the same problem here with this selection. Just to many good one's to pick just one.. but if I have to pick out one... well, Amazing rythm aces 1976.... unless there is a setlist for the 1979 show...

Mack,
Bless you brother. Wat a nice kollection. I'm liking that lone Spirit show being the phan I am of their music. Dickey Betts with them as special guest...you bet. I've got an original '69-70's era pschedelic dayglo yellow and purple Spirit poster(3'x4')framed under glass hanging on my ceiling advertizing a JFK Arena-Manchester, NH show...tickets:$1.00.

Michele,
No downloading needed here. What Mack is stating is that he has a spindle full of recordable cd discs ready to burn for our respective listening pleasures. You pick...he records and sends them out; far and wide, spreading the holiday joy.

I raise my head in a touchy situation

I know its a trait of human love to make all the people holler
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
Send them looking out for their woman send them reaching out for their dollar
Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na, na
A, Hey, hey

Oh, I'm rolling flowing through the whole population
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
Oh, The high and the low born are my friends and relations
(Mr. Skin you know where you've been)
I can bring you pain I can bring you sudden pleasure

SPIRIT
Prelude Nothing to Hide

You have the world at your fingertips
No one can make it better than you
You have the world at your fingertips
But see what you've done to the rain and the sun
So many changes have all just begun, to reap
I know you're asleep
Wake Up

Swastika plug in your wear
Jealous stars in you're pants
Top turning nothing to bear
Except the view or the dare
We got nothing to hide
No we got nothing to hide
We're married to the same bride
We're married to the same bride
She eats away from inside
And we got nothing to hide
Drink down it, a jug full of beer
The bloated heads in your hands
Thats freezing the mouse trap is there
He knows he's blown his last chance
We got nothing to hide
No we got nothing to hide
We're married to the same bride
We're married to the same bride
She eats away from inside
And we got nothing to hide

We got nothing to hide
No we got nothing to hide
We're married to the same bride
We're married to the same bride
She eats away from inside
And we got nothing to hide

Well alright, well alright, well alright

Sprirt used to play a great concert Randy Gross got his name from Jimi with whom he played with in Greenwich Village. The group was called the Electric Flames Jimi then went to England Randy California later cut a lp using Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding in the early 70s Randy died tragicaly on a beach in Hawaii in the 90s. He got caught in an undertow but was able to save his 12 yr old son Quinn.Mr Skin also got his name from Jimi. Ed Cassidy played with all the jazz greats like Thelonious Monk.In the haze of the 60s I can remember their shows clearly They were SMOKING live Nice choice David Peace

Aloha Mack,
I have to agree about the Amazing Rythm Aces. Tough choice but it is winning out. Will send snail mail address. You are too kind.
A treat on Saturday was going to my local Borders here to enjoy a set by Jessie Colin Young....our rocker-in-residence. He still sounds great and it was quite uplifting having the whole store join in on "Get Together!" Maybe there is hope for us all.

>with the Hells
Angels, Metropolian sports center,Bloomington,
Minnesota 10/23/1973 !!!<

Most of the early Grateful Dead shows I attended the "security" was supplied by Hells Angels. I believe that the visible presense changed shortly after the Altamont concert in which the HA was blamed for the knifing and killing of a fan. The GD was slated to play but decided not to play that night due to the havoc. In fact, the GD, Jefferson Airplane, Big Brother & Holding Company and various other bands members were made honorary members of the Hells Angels as they did not discriminate them.
Twas many a early years GD show I've attended the HA was security. Not once did I witness a beating thrown to a fan. Their presense was enough to keep the troublesome rowdy seekers in line. Aside from the illfated Altamont show no killings nor murder accusations were made against the HA that I am aware of. I'm sure that some phans were thrown a beating at times...most likely they pushed it to far. Not the same can be said of later GD shows in which private security firms were hired, numerous incidences come immediately to mind, fans openly beaten and murder accusations leveled. In my firsthand experience, you disrespect one Angel; you disrespect the entire club.
In my opinion the Hells Angels got singled out long ago. Branded by the "man" with a bad rep. Hunted down, set up and imprisoned. To this day this war against them continues funded by our "free" government and hired henchmen.
Over the years, I've had the privilege to know many an Angel. I honestly can't say that any of them individually or as a group I've felt ill at ease with. To this day I admire the Hells Angel proudly wearing colors, standing up for their beliefs. Outlaws...1%ers. Deep down inside... I am too-one of the same, I suppose.

KEEP THE BLUES ALIVE
August, 1998© Linda Maria
~
When the blues is gone,
I'll have my share,
This new generation,
They don't even care.
~
As the legends are dyin',
My poor heart it aches,
My spirit,
My soul,
My body - it shakes.
~
The time is here,
It ain't no jive,
We gotta do somethin',
Keep the blues alive.
~
Where's Junior?
Where's Luther?
Where's William?
Where's Muddy?
~
Thank God for now,
we still have Buddy!
and Pinetop,
and Cotton,
and Etta,
and Branch,
When you hear them,
You just gotta dance.
~
So listen up people,
and pay your dues,
Do your part,
SUPPORT THE BLUES!
~
The time is here,
It ain't no jive,
We gotta do somethin',
KEEP THE BLUES ALIVE!
