The following is Dark Star Orchestra's monthly newsletter(minus the wonderful pics) sent to the thousands of DSO phans on the Dark Star mailing list. DSO, the New England Organ Bank and I have been working on this project together for the upcoming New England leg of their tour. Kudo's to Dark Star Orchestra for the continuing support advocating organ donation.

Greetings from Dark Star Orchestra!

Continuing our earlier promise to stay in touch and bring you good news and information, we present the November edition of DSO News.

Many things to celebrate! From the band's 1000th performance in Greensboro, NC in October to their all-acoustic 7th anniversary performances at the historic Birchmere (with a guest appearance by legend Peter Rowan), DSO and fans have a lot to be proud of.

We are also getting ready to launch a new merchandise store on the DSO website. Stay tuned for the store's opening so you can stop to stock up on holiday merchandise for your favorite Deadhead.

We hope to see you out at some of the tour stops through the end of the year, and cordially invite you to join DSO on the New Year's Eve run of shows in Denver, Colorado.

Additionally, complete information on DSO's tour into 2005 which includes a swing out to the West Coast is listed along the side - come out and see the "music play the band!"

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Dark Star Orchestra continues their commitment to philanthropy and community service when they host the New England Organ Bank (NEOB) at six upcoming shows on the Winter Tour.

NEOB is the oldest independent organ bank in the country. It is the federally-designated organ procurement organization for all or part of the six New England states and serves twelve transplant centers with the combined capacity to perform all types of organ transplantation.

NEOB shares organs regionally and nationally through the United Network for Organ Sharing's national network.

Make the choice... Tell your family
Giving the gift of life can bring good to both the recipient and the donor family.

For a recipient, an organ or tissue transplant is a second chance at life and health. But the act of donation also benefits the donor family. At a time of unexpected death, it is difficult to imagine what could provide consolation to the grieving family. Yet families who have chosen donation say that the donation allowed something positive to come from an otherwise tragic and senseless situation. They feel that some part of their loved one lives on in the recipients they help.

More than 87,000 men, women and children are waiting for a life-saving organ transplant in this country. On average, 17 people die everyday waiting for an organ transplant because of a shortage of donated organs. You can make a difference by signing up as an organ and tissue donor so that you may give the gift of life after you are gone. One organ and tissue donor can help more than 50 people.

For more information, stop by the NEOB table at the following New England shows:
Dec.2 - Pearl Street - Northamton, MA
Dec.11 - Worcester Palladium -Worchester, MA
Dec.12 - New Higher Ground-Burlington, VT
Dec.15 - Lupo's-Providence, RI
Dec.16 - Toad's Place-New Haven, CT
Dec.17 - State Theater-Portland, ME

Even if you cannot make it to see DSO in New England, each person has "the power to donate life". Find out how.
