Music Talk Archive 2004:
OUCH...this is a nasty review of a P-Funk show
http://www.jambase.com/headsup.asp?storyID=5825
I saw that review and really don't know what show the reviewer was at or what he was on. The band hit the stage at around 9:30 not 10:30 and, while it was not the best show of the tour it was fine. He states that there were 3 bass players taking turns (there were only 2). There were 5 guitarists, not 3 and 2 drummers who alternated, not 1. Garry Shider did not play on Maggot Brain, the third guitarist was Billy Bass Nelson.
And, I was playing on that show and he didn't even notice me. He must have had many drinks while he was waiting.
man thats a shame.......
We saw P-Funk allstars a few years back and we had a babysitter that needed to home by 12:30. The show was supposed to begin at 9:00. It didn't get going until around 10:45. Needless to say, we missed much of it but what we saw was pretty good.
Just because the ticket says 8 PM or 9 PM or whatever doesn't mean that that is showtime. That is usually the door time, especially back then. They want you to get there early and have nothing to do but buy drinks. Now, thankfully, a lot of venues will put both the door time and the show time on the tickets.
Goerge Clinton is washed up. he needs to retire. sorry Negman.
Why do you say this? Have you seen himin concert lately? He was awesome in Spain and on the last tour. Very energetic.
Sounds like he needs ta get a new lineup...
P Funk - Dream Lineup 2004
George Clinton - Lead Vocals
B Real - Rap
Neil Evans - Hammond B3
Phil Lesh - Fretless Bass

N.E.R.D. - Perscussion/Keyboards/Turntables

Now imagine that...
So no Mike Hampton, Blackbyrd, Boogie, Garry Shider, Billy Bass, Belita Woods Jerome Rogers and the rest of them that created the funk?
they can play too///)
Jeez, the stage is crowded as it is. Gonna have to get some stadium gigs to hold all of the musicians.
the more the merrier I say!
