Ru,

I know Thanksgiving is an American holiday....do you have a similar holiday in the UK? Hope I don't sound like a dork, but history was never my strong suit. We will be eating great gobs of food on Thursday and in need of naps and then, of course midnight snacks.

I hope your Thursday is a good one!

MMMMMMM -- FAMILY - TURKEY - DRESSING & GRAVY -COCONUT CAKE- PECAN PIE - FOOTBALL- which i will probably fall asleep while watching natural L- TRIPTOPHAN (sp)in the turkey you know(sp) -PRAYERS - SLEEP - can't thing of a better way to spend a day :-)

You all be safe if your traveling. Hopeing the weather is good - supposed to be nice here. No rain anyhow.

I really am feeling better now that the z-pack and "cocktail" , etc. have kicked in. I can
breathe and don't hurt so bad. I swear I haven't felt this much like "normal?" (is there such a thing) in weeks. Glad I went to doc b/4 the holiday.

Well - you folks eat up, drink lots of bubbly grape juice, enjoy the day and remember all things for which you're thankful. Thanksgiving - a POWERFUL word. You know I always say it's the little things that really make us happy. On this day we can free our thoughts of the pain and anguish we are suffering and be aware of our blessings. I should more often but get caught up in my selfish moments of wallering in muck and forget to acknowledge the wonderful things that cross my path every day. I am glad we set aside a day to celebrate. If I could just try to see something special - big or small - every day, I think my attitude about this life of mine would turn around. Being able to accept circumstances I end up in - good or bad- and know that these challenges or opportunities are lessons given to me to help me grow to be a better, smarter, stonger person is a challenge in itself. But - thanks to ya'll - you really help me keep all this in perspective. I AM THANKFUL FOR EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU! AND THANKS TO PHIL and THE DEAD FOR HAVING A PLACE FOR US TO COME, SHARE, AND BE PART OF KIND PHAMILY.

PEACE LOVE JOY HAPPINESS BLESSINGS :-)

GOBBLE ****GOBBLE !!!!!!!

HAVE A NICE DAY......no turkey for me, but I'll eat some food, and celebrate a day of thanksgiving for all the blessings we have.

We certainly have much to be thanful for.....especially compared with so many others in our world. I hope I never lose sight of this. I with all my complaints and seemingly difficult situations are really nothing when put in perspective of people starving, and literally having loved one's die in their arms everyday!! I am very fortunate and blessed in so many ways..... :-)

Hey Everyone!

Hope you're all enjoying today with your phamily and phriends. I got a surprise in the post - guess the spirit of Thanksgiving has a long reach! Anyway, I finally received the "Beyond Description" box set plus the GD Movie DVD and 5 CD soundtrack (and the obligatory T-Shirt!). What a way to start the day!!!

I don't think I'll ever need to buy another CD again 'cos this package is simply unsurpassable. Wow!! My speakers have really been given a mega workover this evening. Phil's bass has pounded the shit out of 'em (but they're still going and can take even more from good ole Phil).

Now, to answer a question from Moviebuf (and an excellent question it is). Does the UK have an equivalent of Thanksgiving? I was going to say Guy Fawkes Night but that isn't really a national holiday, although it ought to be. It's the night we commemorate the foiling of a nefarious terrorist plot to blow up the Houses Of Parliament and King James. I, for one, truly believe it was a world-changing event. What kind of country England might have become had the plot succeeded is terrifying to contemplate. Alas, we just burn a thousand effigies and set off a load of fireworks. People do get together and have outdoor parties but everyone still works a normal day.

We do have lots of national holidays in the UK but none really can be considered an equivalent of Thanksgiving.

Jim, thanks very much for the belated Guy Fawkes' Night wishes - hope you've had a great day today.

Take care all - very best wishes from the UK
Ru

Hey everyone,

I forgot to mention how thankful I am for each and every one of you...even Martin;-)...you have made this past year so much easier to live(r) through, and have helped to provide hope when I was most in need of it. God bless you one and all, and may the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, be known to you, and to your loved ones.

I cannot express my thanks strongly enough to you, my good friends,

Jim

Dave?
Dave's not here, man.
Dave?
Wow man, what a dream.

Happy Thanksgiving Phine Phamily! I blame it on the turkey. Lotsa Turkey. Lotsa Tryptophan or whatever that amino acid that puts one to sleep for a long time after injesting to much turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, squash, cranberry sauce, pumkin pie and cherry cheesecake. Yummmmmm. Beautiful Thanksgiving day here in NH. A warm and sunny day spent with our loving large family, both Dianne's and mine at her Mom's home. Although I've been battling a upper respitory and sinus infection that's put me down for some time now today was the first in about ten days I felt well enough to get out and enjoy the day. Enjoy I did. However, I did eat to much and ended up sleeping right though the night after the traditional meal. Time for a turkey sandwich now?

Good to see you post, Dave, was gettin concerned.

You know to me, the only benificial side is weight loss. I've lost almost 30 lbs. since starting. Let see, afine meal today, what I'm sure will be a fine plate at Dan and Sami's on the way to a weekend of my Dad's cooking. My mom actually still cooks most of tday dinner. I'm guessing I'll gain back at least 10 lbs by Monday night. BOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOO. (I still need to lose at least30-40 more lbs)......... But boy am I gonna enjoy it!!!!
PEACE and THANKFULLNESS, Mark

Walt,

The moon is indeed pretty awesome tonight. Getting a little bit fuller every night. I wish Mack could see the SF skyline all lit up with a full moon. But I think he'll be here five days after it's full. It's such a pretty site anyway this time of year w/all the highrises lit up for the holidays. My ex-brother-in-law lives up in the Berkeley hills near Cal. What a view of the city he has! I could just sit in that living room for days and look out at the City. He almost lost the house during the Oakland Hills fire. Remember that? What a tragedy.

With love,

Judith Ann

I was comin' back from Salt point/Stillwater Cove, abalone diving during the Oakland fire.
Impossible to describe the smoke! Hard to imagine ANYTHING that could put that much junk in the air. From your neighborhood, the sky to the south looked like a concrete wall.

A belated Happy Thanksgiving to all. My mother cooked and baked for 30, including my brother and sister and all of my cousins (except for two that live in Israel). And my mother has this little ceremony where we all go around the room and say what we are thankful for. It was a very special day for my family, watching as my niece and nephew and little cousins all grow up. I'm up early with a wake and bake then off to Hot Tuna tomorrow night. Got the day off today, so I'll probably go to the city and see a movie, probably What the %$#&^%$& Do You Know (a perfect movie for us know it alls LOL). BTW Ru congrats on your Dead purchase It good to see someone in Jolly old England appreciates GOOD muisc. JERRY LIVES!!!!!! Peace to everyone and as Rose said watch out Winter's COMING!!!!!

Hey all....I was outta computer land for the day, and spent much of it loafing about in anticipation of the usual gluttonous Thanksgiving Meal thing. Went to friend's, a little later than were used to doing the turkey night thing, so Im on a tryptophan hangover today..but back at work. The food was exqusite......the company sublime.
Hey you other big guys like myself...did you all lose weight on tx? I guess the weightlifting and healthy eating hasnt done me in, cause Ive not lost a pound of weight or a drop of muscle tone....and since Ive spent the past 5 years working out to make up for lost exercise time in prior less healthful times, I didnt want to lose all that newly body built me. I am happy that I feel well. I am thankful. I am not 100% mentally positivist, but I am trying my damnedest! Heres hoping all you are well....

Great to read you all survivedtday! Had great time with my daughter and family. Have much to be Thankful for..my family, my new phriends, my old friends, and life(esp before Tx in Jan). I blew off So Beach Diet but ate small portions.
I am a little low, had to have my Crusader cat put to sleep on Thursday. Calico was starving, homeless four years ago. She was hurt from being thrown out of vehicle. She ended up hurting her rear again lost her tail. Then she had colon removed....She was fine til spring when we lost
our puppy and her best friend. Bethy kept her warm. Other cats didnot. I have been fighting to keep her alive when I should have let go. I hoped we would both be together thru treatment. I made a comittment to my animals years ago that if their quality of life...., her quality of life was ebbing So I said Goodbye. I told her Bethy was waiting. I will endure without my Shining Star, she knew I must. I was afraid with all the nonsense I may go thru, I would not be able to keep up the hourly needs of her condition and meds. I could not see her Star last nite...the Moon is so full. She will shine on me and all of us. She sat with me here many times. She is in a far better place with Kool People. I will miss her, she was a true Love Child. I planted a lilac bush today. My garden is full of memories to friends, family and my pets It is a beautiful garden. When Bethy died Calico and I planted a sisters Garden. This spring her and Bethy's ashes will be put there. I have told everyone to do this. It is a time of renewal to see the trees and flowers come to life, and you always remember. Even thru all the meds she never bit or scratched...I guess she knew! I have three other monsters, and we have another throw out Samson who came last nite to be with me. Samson is a wild man and we respect his wishes. But he loves my girls..Sweets(Mom). Prescious, and Delilah.
When I get my pics back, I'll try to post...
I've had animals for over thirty years. I wouldnot know how to live without them. They know no hate only unconditional love~ So why did God make us? We seem only to spread disease, kill and hate. I still hope someday we will all learn to live together, learn from each other, love unconditionally...

Hey everybody, Hope everyone had a nice thanksgiving! Most of you probably donīt know me as I donīt drop by often, and even less since I finished tx in May, but regardless, my best wishes for all of you on and off tx. Even with all the bullshit, I have a lot to be thankful for, Martin is absoulutely right, we are all very fortunate in many aspects, even though itīs easy, for me, to lose sight of that. Even though I am poor, as far as American standards go, I am very well off as far as world standards are concerned, and for that I am thankful, not to mention the fact that I am fortunate enough to be currently studying in Spain, which has been a wonderful experience, especially since it occured after having come right off of tx.

Anyway, I donīt want to ramble too much, most of you are probably thinking, Who The F&%$ is this guy anyway. I just want to wish everybody the best. Peace!!!

Hey Thomcat......

Just wanted to say Hi, and let you know that all are part of this fine phamily all equally regardless of how often someone post or comes around.
All one has to say around these parts is that they have been here before, or been through tx, or have had a loved one go though tx....and we all understand immediately. Anyway...glad to hear from you again.

I just wanted to add a quick note to Shelly. My utmost condolences to you on your loss of Calico. My heart always grieves deeply when I hear of someone losing their little loved furry friend. I to love animals so much......and I almost start crying when I just read a story like yours.....even though I know that she is in heaven with Bethy. It's always especially hard when a loved buddy has a little friend or partner that passes before them and they have to live without their friend. Just that lost look of where their friend has gone to is so overwhelming it really hurts bad. I have to stop now as my eyes are starting to well up again. I have 4 cats, and one is very overweight( Kitten Boy) and I know it's only a matter of time ( he is starting to have trouble moving around alot). But he is a mentor to the last kitten I brought home ( Peco), and they are always together, with K.Boy always giving Peco a bath and curling up together. I just can't stand the thought of what Peco will do when his buddy passes on. Oh well.......don't want to go there any more.

Anyway.....my prayers and thoughts are with you Shelly on your loss. It sounds like you have some others there to comfort you, and I'll say a prayer for Calico..... :-)

I am sorry, Michele. I couldn't imagine my life without dogs and cats either, it is heartbreaking when you have to lose one. Hi Matt! Many on TX loses weight, people who didn't know me before treatment can't believe what a junk-food junkie I used to be and looked it. One friend of mine, though, could only tolerate Coke and ice cream and she actually gained weight!! (and got an SVR). Hoping you all are having a nice holiday-type weekend. Because of various juggling including a last-minute airplane cancellation my Mom is doing her turkey today, Sunday. Peace
