*********************************BREAKING NEWS***********************************

Ron Artest secretly pays fan $50,000 to hit him in the head with a cup of beer and provoke him into a fist fight so he can be suspended for a month to promote his upcoming new Rap album. Artest, not knowing what the said fan looked like instead went after a 16 year old kid and now will be charged with assault on a minor.

More to come.

:-O

good shot Jermain O'Neal - decked the fan on the court to the floor - asswipe deserved it.

If my crew was under fire, I'd unleash as well.

tough it out Pacers - you're in first place early in the season. work through the suspensions and lets keep the your game together.

Way to represent, Stephen Jackson - a newbie to the team and a real team player.

"I wonder what Larry Bird is going to do with these jokers? "

Hit the country roads, crack open a bottle of Jack Daniels, and talk it out with 'em, just like he did in the old days with McHale, Parrish, Ainge, Dennis Johnson. I imagine they probably puffed a few j's with Parrish around. :-)

It's really to bad.

The Detroit - Pacers playoff series last year was so exciting and entertaining. A definite highlight of the whole season.

They play again on Christmas, I just don't see how that is going to happen. Imagine the thugs that'll want to show up for that game for a piece of the action.

>>>>>>good shot Jermain O'Neal - decked the fan on the court to the floor - asswipe deserved it.

Are you fucking kidding me? Why support and condone the violence? That kid that O'Neal co-cocked is said was only about 18 years old and he was on the floor but was not doing anything deserving to be punched by an NBA PROFESSIONAL. Gang Violence is all that was tonight Ladies and Gentlemen. GANG MENTALITY. WAAAAAAAH I got hit in the head with a plastic cup full of beer so my brothas and I are gonna beat you down (oops you're the wrong guy, sorry kid). The way they are making it sound in the news is that there were a group of mad rabid Piston fans getting ready to gang up on Artest (there wasn't but 15 or so people in the general vicinity of the whole incident!). BULLSHIT He is a "professional" and should not have jumped 10 rows into the stands and go after the Dumbass fan. He should act like a professional. "His life was being threatened" BULLSHIT! he got a glass of beer thrown at him (big deal) and to beat all that The kid that he ended up beating the crap out of was not even the guy that threw the cup. THE KID WAS 16 YEARS OLD and INNOCENT of wrongdoing other than just being a Piston fan in the wrong place at the wrong time.

This is a fucked up sitch for the NBA and all of it's fans but all I will say now LOUD AND CLEAR...........THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THE ACTIONS OF BEN WALLACE, RON ARTEST, REGGIE MILLER, AND JERMAIN O'NEAL AND THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THE ACTIONS OF THE DETROIT PISTON FANS. What happens on the court should stay on the court and even if the situation escalates the players should take the high road and get the fuck outta there and not go after the fans PERIOD. THIS is not a corner lot in the hood, this is an NBA game on national television, represent your team and represent your city with professionalism and DIGNITY. What we saw tonight will be remembered for a long damn time and it def. is a black eye for the NBA and the city of Detriot as well as a few Indiana Pacers players. Fines, Suspensions, and a whole lotta talk are fixin to come from this but it will not be over for a long while.

I could go on and on on this but I will leave on this note and pick this up later. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR PROFESSIONAL NBA PLAYERS TO GO AFTER FANS UNLESS THEY FEEL THEIR LIVES ARE AT RISK and by no means was Ron Artests' life at risk because he got hit in the head with a cup of beer. Wallace should not have pushed him but hey that's the NBA and it shoul be settled on the court. BTW FUCK REGGIE MILLER AND HIS $5,000 suit too. He is more of a professional than most of them and he too got in Wallaces face and escalated the event even more than it already was.....blah blah blah I gotta go to bed.

More on this in the near future.....

NO EXCUSE! NO FUCKING EXCUSE WHATSOEVER.

>>>>>>asswipe deserved it

SORRY, WRONG ASSWIPE! PUSSY ASS MOTHERFUCKER WOULD NOT EVEN STAND TOE TO TOE WITH THE GUY THAT THREW THE CUP. HE WENT AFTER THE LITTLE GUY! Big Bad NBA Star, WTF EVER....FUCKIN PUSSIES IF YA ASK ME!

Oh man, gotta agree that sucked ! I missed it unfold live, at that point the game was Indianas, came back in the room, could not believe my eyes either !

Very sad, and yeah those fans definately suck ! Not like this stuff has never happened before, though not at a basketball game, that I can recall. Snowballs at the Giants game come to mind. Fans are capable of some pretty bizzare acts.

I also agree that it is the players responsibility to not respond in kind to any unwelcome advances from a fan, albeit verbal or physical.

Sad day for this Pistons fan !

I'm on the side of the players on this one.

I usually take the side of the fans, but you can't throw a cup of beer or soda at players. The fan crossed the line by throwing something onto the court.

And once you go onto the court, playing field, etc., you are fair game. I loved that one dumbass that ran on the court and stood up to Artest. He was all tough until he saw how big Artest is and dropped his hands and crapped his pants.

Players will be fined and suspended. You shouldn't go into the stands, but I think it was justified last night. If it was just words, Artest has to let it go, but if idiots are throwing things at you, you have to defend yourself.

If you're at a bar and someone throws a beer at you, you kick thier ass no matter if you're making a million dollars a year or minimum wage.

There is only one problem with that Rasta, they were not in a bar, and these guys are professional athletes who make millions of dollars. I think fans and players alike should be punished somehow.

Either way it is unacceptable on all sides !

>>>>You're more intelligent than this Cosmic, I think.

Why don't you just throw a cup of beer at me?

:-O

>>>>>If you're at a bar and someone throws a beer at you, you kick thier ass no matter if you're making a million dollars a year or minimum wage.

I deal with drunken assholes all of the time and I get paid to keep my cool. I have had to call police a few times to come and remove bad apples and I have also had to remove them myself. If Artest would have just stayed on the table and not responded and blew it off this would not have turned into whjat it did. Now if he was bing charged at by a group of mad fans then that is a different story, but he got a cup of beer thrown at him. That sucks and yea it pissed him off, but he should have blown it off. It was one fucking beer man. I would never go after or start punching patrons in the face unless I felt my life was in danger or I was about to get rushed by a group of guys and get my ass kicked. I have had tip jars thrown at me as well as beers, money, ashtrays, etc. but I have never feared for my safety to the point in which I grab a couple of buddies and go to town on my patrons. Now when I wasn't working and just out drinking is a different story.

If I went after a customer and started beating him down because he threw a plastic cup of beer at me, I would be fired no questions asked.

I don't know, I guess I just hold athletes to higher standards when it comes to professional sports and what I saw last night reminded me of a high school gang fight. The fans are def. Asswipes, but the players should have just got the fuck outta there.

I need to learn more about this before I totally make a judgement, but I think Artest was wrong for going after the guy.

Fuck the Pistons fans. Ron Artest was trying to do the right thing by staying out of the fight. Whoever threw that cup of ice and water at him started it all. What was with those two fans that ran onto the court to fight? That one guy deserved to get his ass kicked by Jermaine O'neal. At one point someone even threw a chair. Detroit sucks. Whoever was throwing stuff at the pacers should be banned for life.

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of page Link to this message  By He's Gone (Wavydavey) on Saturday, November 20, 2004 - 04:18 pm: Edit Post

Detroit does not suck ! It was a few fans that ruined it ! That and the wealthy players having no ability to restrain themselves ! This has never happened at a Pistons game before. Only takes a few bad apples to ruin the whole bunch yeah ! Pistons fans on the whole are a very respectful bunch !

Hell they have been doing this crap in stadiums all over the country for years. As I mentioned above, Anyone remember Giants Stadium and the snowballs raining down on players and coaches etc. ?

>>>>Whoever threw that cup of ice and water at him started it all.

blah
blah
blah

Artest showed he could remain cool in a fight on the court, something he is passionate about and earns a living doing very well. he took the agression from Wallace in stride and probably could have avoided fines. He only showed his ass in a slight mocking way by "laying around waiting" on the scorers table. That was an idiotic attempt at humor from animal of a player like him.

Yet, when a mere cup of ice water, beer - whatever - hits him and he goes APESHIT. WTF?

He lost his cool over a cup of liquid. HA HA HA.

Why would anyone want to go into any crowd of folks to attack/retaliate, when an adjacent person could quite possible twist yer fucking neck - DUN - my weak ass is trained enough to do it, I know others are, also - or drop a blade in yer side. Grande percentages of the population carry knives. THE BIGGER MAN LAUGHS AT THE AGGRESSOR AND WALKS AWAY. Oh wait! He did that in the Wallace altercation. I guess 50% is league standard.

Steve Jackson FUCK HIM.
Jermaine Oneil FUCK HIM now. That guy he COLD COCKED had barely gotten off the floor, and in my eyes opposed no threat to Artest. the guy was 5-6 and 230. C'mon, he was a tub o shit. WALK AWAY ARTEST AND BE THE BIGGER MAN.

and once AGAIN, the better man ALWAYS walks away from ALL confrontation until the last possible instance.

AH SHIT, I forget, were talkin about a bunch'o MEATHEADS.

What was that joker doing out there in the first place???!!

I side more with the players on this one but there is no excuse for either sides. (but that little shit asking for a beating after he threw his cup got what he deserved)

AND the dude who threw the chair!!!! Come on! Don't you watch baseball!!

AND first off...that was some petty foul for Wallace to go balistic on artest. No need to go Sprewell!! And I like wallace more than artest but he was way out of line.

The press will eat the players alive...fines, suspensions, and lawsuits are just the beginning.

I watched it live and could not believe what I was watching. The fans and players are both at fault. I can see a fan getting decked for running onto the court, especially when tempers are/were flaring, but the players jumping into the stands is really crazy shit, they get paid way too much to lose their cool like that. Maybe the NBA players need some sensitivity training :-) to be able to deal with the all the jeers and namecalling and obvisously to deal with having liquid thrown at them. Goes to show, you don't ever know.
I think that the crowd mentality took over the situation, like a wildfire quickly spreading. Larry Brown was still in shock 10 minutes after, it all happened so very fast. People in the bar I was watching at got fired up big time, arguing over who was right and who was wrong, almost to the point where I thought there was going to be fight in the bar because of the fight on TV. Talk about spreading the violence. Maybe these players make so much damned money that they have forgotten one big thing.......IT'S A GAME!!!!! :-)

If you throw something at a player you deserve to get your ass kicked. If you did the same thing at a rock concert security would use your head to open the door. I saw Trey Anastasio Band at Deer Creek and he got nailed with a full bottle of water during a slow song. After the song was over he jumped off stage and into the pavillion. He grabbed the guy who threw the bottle and security took him away. How is this any different than what Ron Artest did? Its really not that different if you think about it. Only difference is Trey didn't want to kill the guy.

It was wrong to suspend Artest for the entire season, and the punishment for O'Neal was insanely long (25 games). If you review the whole incident it was Ben Wallace who started and pursued Ron Artest, Artest using his anger management course training ran to the scorers table, Wallace initiated and pursued and instigated this entire event. He get's six games WTF!!!! This is about image and Artest is one of the games imagined "bad seeds" but in reality is one of the good guys, it's asshole initatiors like Wallace and racists leauge owners who are killing this sport.
