Politics Archive 2004:
An example of the liberal media
Guess which site posted this picture at the time of his death?
CNN

This one was posted by MSNBC.com
What is with CNN being so liberal? Arafat was a terrorist and they portray him as a glowing angel.
It's much akin to GW Bush's comments regarding Clinton yesterday at the Library opening.....diplomatic respect for a former world leader.....and no more.
Does one really believe that Bush's comments yesterday were heartfelt? No. Does one really believe the "reverent" goodbyes for Arafat? No, it's just a thing called DECORUM. Also, I think it's a good idea to try to maintain a bit of decorum, since there will (hopefully) be further attempts to gain a peace accord between the Israelis and the Palestinians. If there are any ideas on making this happen, a wholesale trashing of Arafat is not recommended, since his followers are still there to be dealt with.
Oh, and this just in:
CNN isn't liberal - they are CORPORATE. After all, they bought the gubmint's shifting rationales on Iraq too. When you look at media through the corporate vs. individual interest paradigms, the biases become much more apparent.
Just stop with the liberal media bull shit. my god anytime something go wrong I hear its the liberal media, Go to poor areas od NY and ask how liberal the media and why they are not harder on bush. Its just not true, so much shit that really matters to us get covered up by by the media no matter what the goverment does, turn so boys instead of talk raido.
ha no such thing as liberal media? every major network will not challenge feminists, affirmative action, and gay rights activists. Look at these two pictures again and tell me there is no such thing as the liberal media.
bwah-ha-ha.
Ive asked it before - and Ill ask it again - QUICK, name me ONE liberal who has a show on cable news?
Name the one on CNN or MSNBC?
Cant do it. CNN's Lou Dobbs, a Conservative, has his own show. Wolf Blitzer is a mouthpiece of the White House and couldnt filter his own piss if he had to drink it. Uh, who else, Judy Woodruff, yeah, she's about as Liberal as Grover Norquist.
MSNBC - Joe Scarbourough, freakish Conservative. Chris Matthews, used to be a bit of a Left leaner, but he's drank the Kool-Aid and refuses to question ANYTHING this Administration.
And for the love of God, dont even dare say Alan "Black Hole of Liberal Charisma" Colmes... he's Slanthead Sean Hannity's piss boy and nothing else.
There is a slight Left lean to the network news, but only as far as their gigantic corporate masters will let em go.
ABC - DISNEY
NBC - GE
CBS - VIACOM
Yeah, those are some really proggresive companies.
Newspapers are about 50/50. TV is split between cable conservatism and liberal network news... though Id say the slant is greater for the cable shows than for the networks. Radio is BY FAR AND AWAY slanted to the Right.
The CrAzY liberal media perception has been fostered for nearly 40 years by the radical Right. While I wont say there hasnt been some liberal bias in the media, its NO WHERE NEAR the bias that the Right has crowed about my entire life.
Id like to see a link to that picture, if you could. The one that I saw didnt come across as sweet as the one you show.

God hates liberals, didn't you know? That's why he allowed Jesus to be crucified.
>>> God hates liberals, didn't you know? That's why he allowed Jesus to be crucified. <<<
Geeeesh, that's pretty harsh, there Hillman. And I love it. Ill borrow that often, if you dont mind, brother Grumpy.
Thats a funny joke Johnny!!!
Guess which network called the election for Bush before the votes were counted - CNN
Guess which network has yet to offer any coverage about the questions of fraud which dog the election - CNN
Guess which network is airing a special called "The Mission of George W. Bush" - CNN
I think the fact that CNN said something stupid is proof that they are really Conservative. Liberals are way too smart for childish crap like that. Course as a card carrying Liberal I couldn't tell you what was on CNN because I turned off their right-wing corporate boot-licking crap weeks ago when I got rid of my TV.
The Revolution is on NOW, but it is not getting any coverage on CNN!!
I am so perplexed!
How does showing a picture of Arafat make CNN liberal anyway? What is the connection? Arafat died, CNN reported it, you don't like the coverage, therefore CNN is Liberal?
Trust me, Liberal's aren't mourning Arafat. They are not cheering. Arafat is pretty much not on the Liberal radar screen. In fact, nothing I see on CNN is on the Liberal radar screen. I know that is hard to believe, but it is true.
The major issue to Liberals right now is the faulty election, and CNN is silent. Explain it so a liberal can understand.
cry cry cry its the liberal media fault cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry cry if it wasnt for the liberal media cry cry cry cry cry cry Bush Won the election Arafats dead its the liberal media fault cry cry cry cry cry, people are dead in Iraq its the liberal media cry cry cry cry cry cry Those fuc*ing liberals cry cry cry Im a little baby its the liberal media they made me that way. Thats the problem with the right they cry an cry and cry and blame something that does not exist.
hahahahachucklechortle
A Repuglican is someone who repeats a lie so often that he believes it to be true.
ha no such thing as liberal media? every major network will not challenge feminists, affirmative action, and gay rights activists. Look at these two pictures again and tell me there is no such thing as the liberal media.
Yeah they dont challange it because there is nothing wrong with anyone of these, but guess affirmative action may need some change, but we still need it. I bet johnny 5 thinks a prison is like a hotel because you get cable t.v. and he woulnt mind going to one, right.
about the pics Johhny 5-
they make me sick too
and CNN sucks, not because they're liberal. They aren't. But because they try to appease the ideas of each side. After the election they blamed themselves, thinking that they were in fact to liberal and didn't yet get the ideas of racism, coorporate greed, dirty politics and world piratery.
They suck on all sides as well, as in their middle east coverage, showing the same sympathetic pictures of 9 year old Palestinian boys chucking rocks, not the 24 year olds strapping up those same kids with suicide vests. Then we'll get to hear accusations that Ariel Sharon is a War Criminal who never describing his heroic efforts to start a modern democracy in brutally fascist area of the world.
It gets confusing...CNN should be a great bastion of progressive thought, but alas it is another show on TV. Searching for advertising to feed the coorporate sweet tooth and shittin on ideas from anyone under the age of thirty. The whole liberal media cry is bullshit. Al Franken is the only one, and I love him for it.
sorry hypocryptical
Franken is losing credibility because he isn't interested in uncovering the truth about the election - looking ahead to 2008, while we are busy fighting for 2004. Check out Keith Olbermann on MSNBC (i.e. if he hasn't been fired for his expose on the election that aired last week.)
I disagree that the media has no agenda. The media agenda is to confirm and support the political and corporate structure that exists. Any position that seeks to change the system (i.e. liberals) are giving short shrift - either slanted coverage or no coverage at all. On Cable news, Of the 404 talking heads who were asked their opinion in the run-up to Iraq, only 2 (two!) were against the war. Not much opposition, but the country was split down the middle. You don't suppose the media was pushing the shrub's agenda do you?
>>>>I am so perplexed!

i think he was being sarcastic
You think he was being sarcastic?
Whaaaaa?
"What is with CNN being so liberal? Arafat was a terrorist and they portray him as a glowing angel."
What sounds sarcastic about that? If I am wrong then I apologize, but I could use some info: Johnny why did you start the thread in the first place? To knock liberals or to be sarcastic?
a) Johnny started the thread because he's a kool-aid drinking Troll.
b) Al Franken did as much as any media person in trying to get people out to vote and to champion Kerry's cause. The fact that he isnt chasing the numerous theories out there, cant say as though I blame him - what the fuck is the DNC or Kerry/Edwards doing about it.
Moreover, the Dem party has got to start working on 2006/2008 NOW - cause this last election has shown us how far behind we actually are.
c) CNN/MSNBC/CNBC arent really drifting Right because they have had some sort of RadCon epiphany (sp). They are doing it because Fox is making huge $$ and KILLING them all in the ratings.
d) >>> CNN should be a great bastion of progressive thought <<<
Why? They never have been ANYTHING close to a "liberal network" -- They might have had slight slant to the Left, but they've never been (nor have they pretended to be) a "great bastion of proggresive thought".
They are owned by fucking Time-Warner for god's sake, you arent going to EVER get a truley proggresive network until a Murdoch-type lefty buys a network.
e) anyone noticed Johhny Wad cant come back and reply once he's laid his flame-bait. T-R-O-L-L.
Hey Jeff
I like your reasoning except: the vote fraud is not a theory or a fact. It is a hypothosis, and it is important. A large number of Dems are starting to feel like there vote wasn't counted. A thorough investigation is required NOT to change the results, but to reassure the Dems that everything was fair and square. I would feel more comfortable if republicans felt that this was a reasonable request instead of accussing Dems of conspiracy theories. If we can spend 5.8 billion per month in Iraq, then we should be able to spend a few hundred million to give everybody confidence in the process.
>>Yeah they dont challange it because there is nothing wrong with anyone of these, but guess affirmative action may need some change, but we still need it.
In their minds there is nothing wrong with any of these which by definition would make them liberal.
These pictures were copied onto my hardrive 20 minutes or so after it was announced that arrafat had died. I also have the one from foxnews, but I am having trouble posting it because it is large. It is interesting to see how different news groups cover the news. Something as simple as a photo on the homepage can reveal bias.
Johnny
With all due respect that is stupid!
Is this more GWB bs? If you aren't with us you must be a liberal?
Jews are liberals right? They hated Arafat. They should be glad that he was dead. By CNN praising Arafat they are dissing jews. Therefore CNN hates Jews and therefore they hate liberals. Hows that logic?
Or are you saying that if the media doesn't push the conservative agenda, then they must be liberal?
Maybe anti-gay stuff doesn't bring in the ad money? Isn't news all about selling ads? I don't see anything Liberal or Conservative about selling ads. Its american.
CNN is more French than Jewish.
good comeback johnny
Still waiting for some examples of Liberals on any of the cable news networks.
Johnny?
Will B,
Oh, Im all for verifying the election results. By whatever means. Ive said before that even if this election wasnt stolen, we dont know that it couldnt have been. And unless things change we will never be able to have full confidence in our system or any of our elections... and seeing as though two of the three major vote machine companies are in the pocket of the GOP...
makes ya go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
I advocate Sirius Radio as the port in the current media storm, while it is Coperate, it is if you will the cool side of the spectrum.
i dont think arafat is a bad as our government wants to make him seem to us. the man one the nobel peace prize in '93 or'94
Jeff raises and interesting point vis a vis liberals in media, and while I am inclined to disagree I will admit I have little to no objective data upon which to raise an objection.
I would speculate that if one found studies of political identification by profession (and I am sure they exist I just have not taken it upon myself to look) you would find the majority of your daytime and "non-feature" journalists would go dem and your owners and execs would go repub. It would make sense but who knows. It would certainly be an intersting read if someone finds such a study.
DAn Rather - OUT as Evening News host CBS
stays with 60 minutes though

no dude, he's way worse. arafat is responsible for the death of thousands, including olympic atheletes, infants, teenagers, club goers, tourists, and random people who just wanted a slice of Sbarro pizza. The man encouraged families to strap up their kids in suicide bomb vests and then stole millions in US funds that were meant to build up an infrastucture in his state. Arafat was another Egyptian (born in Cairo) who was so pissed that his country made peace with Jews, he made it his life's work to kill innocents and never create peace.
