Hep C Archive:
You guys were right-biopsy ain't no thang
Got my biopsy yesterday and you were right it was no big deal. Of course I had myself tied in a knot over it-did my subconcious best to sabotage it--ate two Egg McMuffins at 06:00(procedure was sheduled for 08:00), got stuck in traffic on the way into the city-was about 45 minutes late...they said they'd do it -anyway filled out all my forms wrong cuz I was nervous as a cat trying to bury shit on a tin roof...they wheeled me in to the room--doc shook my hand-I thought i'd be awake the whole time but they must'a realized my tenseness. Last thing I heard was the nurse say "good night"...next thing I knew I was waking up a couple hours later--never saw or felt a thing, which was fine with me. All I know is I just got good free narcotic buzz outta the deal. Was sort of on wierd street all day yesterday, slept a little-woke up this a.m. with just a slight feeling on my right side like I was lightly punched in the ribs or something...no big deal anyway you look at it. Now I guess I wait a few days for the doc to call and give me his thoughts on the results....
Good news, Jim. When they did mine the didn't knock me out...you must have acted nervous. here's hoping you get good results.
Jim
I wasnt acting- I was nervous! ;)
I did'nt get a free high either But it was not that bad right i pray for good results for ya
Darn, no free high for me either....I'm gonna have to go back again just for the biopsy special(lol).
I'm still loopy as a loon thanks to the anesthetic, Fentanyl--Went down to the bookstore to cop a copy of Dylan's Chronicles-then went up and sat in on the last 1/2 of a nooner A.A meeting--was looking out the window at the river and thought to myself, "man, there's a lot of sailboats out there"--next time I looked I realized there wasnt any sailboats-what I'd seen was a flock of seagulls sitting on the flat grey roof of a cannery--I was trippin'..lol..think I'll go lay down and read.
Tripping at a meeting...Whoa, what a concept....
And the liver doc just called me with the results.
He said on a scale of 0 to 4 on scarring/damage/inflammation/sign of cirohsis, that I was a "1". I asked if that was good, and he said it was-just a bare minimum or trace amount of damage. When I asked when I should see him again, he said in a couple of years. He didn't recommend inteferon tx at this time-saying just to keep taking care of myself and see what kinds of new meds will be available down the road.
So, I guess at this point in time at 54 years of age, I'm good to go with gettin' on with my life.
Great news, Jim. I would get a liver panel(blood test) done once a yr anyway. And of course, alcohol is still a big no no. Please hang with us here still anyway. A good way to keep up with what's new.
PEACE, Mark
1 is good. Hey, I've seen some pretty fucked up people at meetings. Stay off the booze, get your panels checked and hang in with the hepkats. Hey, we got you this far didn't we?
>>And of course, alcohol is still a big no no.>>
>>Stay off the booze>>
When I told the doc I quit drinkin' sixteen years ago he said I did myself some good for doing that. Sure aint got no ideas about resuming the alcohol habit.
Figure I made it 16 years I may as well quit for good.
I quit drinking ten years before I got diagnosed, which might be one reason I'm still around.
Jim,
Hea, Bro; Happy to hear that your liver Biopsy
went well !! I have my first liver Biopsy Today

for the rest of the night, So I will be here probably most of the night !! I sure hope that I
get something before they procceed this procedure!
I would love a good HIGH from the magick of medicine !! But if all goes well, I am planning on
doin' alot of tokin' before I go, and be totally
Stoned out off my mind, before I let any Doctor
slam anything in my body !!!!
Sorry everyone, I am 52 years old and I am still
scared shittless of the thought of this biopsy !!
But thank you for letting me know that i will be
at the Clinic for awhile !! I am planning on taking my book - Grateful Dead: The Illustrated
Trip", a tape player, and at least 12 of my live
Grateful Dead Concerts on tapes !!
Wish me luck, because I am going to need it !!!!
And Thank you all for your support and caregiving!
Your Old Hippy/Deadhead Friend and
Pfamily,
Bruce
Hey, Montana give me a call, if you're still up. sent you an email.
PEACE, Mark
wow, deja voodoo.
Bruce-
Check back in and let us know how it went!
If you are like 99% of us, no big deal, right?
There's plenty of newbies/ soon-to-be's would benefit from your advice.
Had mine week and half ago...went good. I was nervous and scared then the day came, test done. Had no problems except bruise at ribs. The waiting and the amount of tests seem to weigh heavier than the actuality of the procedures.
Hope your tests are good. I get results within two weeks. My dirinking was n weekends if that. Had 5 surgeries in four years so I was quite clean. With all job interviews was really clean... Here's to good news for all of us who get the procedure!
