Music Talk Archive 2004:
Anybody see Australian Pink Floyd?
Anybody seen them or even care too. They are playing tonight in town at a great theatre, it's only 27 bucks and it's my birthday. I figured this might be a fun way to celebrate.
Any thoughts?
my friend saw them last year and said they were amazing. obviously not the real thing, but about as damn close as anyone could come i guess. how was the show??
SO DAVE...How was the show?
The show was great! Well worth the $27.00. Sorry it's taken sooooooo long to respond.
The first set was the complete Dark Side of the Moon album. i guess it's the 30th anniversary.
Very mixed crowd with a lot of older heads. 1st set was good but a lttle too much recorded effects for me and it seemed the band was kinda just going thru the motions. I'm sure doing the same 1st set note for note every night must get a little old after a while. Still it was very good. They definetly nailed it hands down.
The lights and visual effects were wonderful. They had a large backdrop where they showed videos and a smaller round one in front of that so it gave it a cool 3 dimensional effect. The round one in front was kinda like what candice uses with the dead. Definetely lived up to the Pink Floyd experience.
The second set was the shit for me. I'm sure they do the same second set but it just had a lot more energy and spark. The dude on bass was definetely dropping a few bombs. It seemed they played a little bit from each era of the Floyd. My favorite being the older stuff. It seemed louder and much more intense then the first set. The women were great, sax was great evrything was dead on. I would definetly go see them again and again.
I know there just a cover band but man I think it was as good or if not better then some of the Floyd shows I saw. Affordable and in a beautiful old theatre. If they are coming to a town near you it's well worth going if your a Floyd fan.

Comfortably Numb
I've heard great things. I watched a special on TV. Supposedly these guys use the exact stage props, and exact same sound board guy, and stage lights guy, and equipment from the Pink Floyd touring days. So what you’re seeing is exactly the same thing, (besides Pink Floyd). I d/l'ed a few sound clips once. I could not tell the difference.
