I remember back in February 2003, when Powell went to the U.N. and made a very sincere testomony that Iraq was an immenent threat and blantantly had weapons of mass destruction and that they were getting ready to attack the U.S. It was televised on all the news channels and it made big headline news worldwide at the time. He seemed so convincing as this respectable looking gentleman made his case. What a crock of shit. It now turns out to be a bunch of B.S.

The thing about Powell's U.N. plea was that it looked convincing and so many naive Americans believed that the Bush administration was valid for their plan to go to war. For a moment, even I was beginning to think that maybe Iraq really was a danger and that Powell was the expert to trust with his "official" blurry black and white satelite photographs of the weapons of mass destruction fascilites in Iraq as evidence.

The next month(March, 2003) The U.S. finally sent their troops to Iraq to start this mess and all the news networks acted as cheerleaders as if they were supporting the Bush administration for the decision to go to war based on phoney Mickey Mouse evidence.

Colin Powell was a big factor on convincing many Americans that Iraq was an actual threat. If we look back on the footage of his U.N. address it now looks like an April fools joke. I wish it can be aired again just for laughs. Powell is a dummy or a liar.

Or a lesser monger for power who didn't get along with Rumsfeld so he had to go...

Rice was a sinister agent from Dr. Evil's camp actually. During the meetings at the oval office, she occasionally gives a loud sinister laugh and rubs her fingers together like the evil Grinch who stole Christmas with her evil smile. She also despises little children and used to steal candy from them making them cry. She's a sinister one.

powell was the only administration member to have any dignity about him. He was a career military man who knew how to be a team player, hence the UN speech. He did his job, like he was supposed to.

It was just unfortunate that powell didn't necessarily agree entirely with the shrub doctrine, so he was relegated to sub-cabinet or very minor level duties for the most part.

Powell's only fault is he's a career military man who follows orders.

He was the only one in the Admin. to stand up to Bush/Cheney/Rumsfield/Franks policies to invade an already sanctionally crippled Iraq. He knew it was all bogus...his relationship with others was strained at best. His voice of reason had been greatly dismissed as he was seen as a passive military man, when calling for military action.

He knew it was all bullshit...but being a military man, following the chain of command, he gave in to the admins pressures and made the UN presentation.

It's a difficult place to be, I'm sure no one can fully comprehend the pressures. But Powell knew the difficulties of war, 2 tours of Vietnam, the Gulf, he knew what we where getting into...he was well respected and the key to Bush's invasion. His only fault, following orders...can you honestly expect anything else from such a man?

If he knew, he's a liar then. Lying to the world, the American people and to the soldiers that were willing to die for a "just" cause. If he wasn't 100% sure, he still lied. I know, many people respect him and I'm sure he has many great qualities but if this is the case, he is guilty for being part of deception to the American people. Many Americans really look up to him and fell for his U.N. address. He may have been loyal to command but he dishonored the American people who admire and believe him and dishonored the soldiers who died because they thought they would sacrifice their lives for a just cause.

Do I fault him if this were the case that he really lied? Yes and no. Tough job situation for him. Maybe Powell just wanted an easy way out and to live the rest of his life without the extra hassles of public and media controversy that would have surrounded him. I don't claim to be a humanitarian so maybe I too would have done the same but it's still very inexcusable in terms of conscience. I've heard that Powell is a pretty down to earth easy going guy and he just probably wants to live the rest of his life quietly without being too controversial, even though he still really is in the eyes of conscience.
