Non-PF/Dead Show Reviews Archive 2004:
Derek Trucks 11/13/04 @ Spirit NYC
A very good show. Spirit is agreat place to see a show, with as you could imagine a "spiritual" vibe. The opening act was the Campbell Brothers a band with a pedal steel and a lap steel. They played a bluesy set, rockin, and Derek came out for the last song something about not givin the Devil a ride.. a very hot jam. Derek came out with his rockin band had the hammond B-3 crankin and the soulful singer. I was a little tired and didin't feel it was the most high energy show. The last song of the set Derek was joined by Yosi Piamenta who really rocked and actually blew Derek off the stage imho. The encore "Make A Joyful Noise", DTB was joined by one of the Campbell Brothers and Denise Brown, their singer. A good positive night out in NYC.
The Rabbi rocked.
Nice review! Saw Derek on Thursday the 11th. I love watching that guy play the guitar. And I even got the Afro Blue I was hoping he would play.
