Yep, college hockey is the answer. I go to Black Bear games sometimes, and they're on all the time up here.

Just when the Rangers decide to build a winner the "right" way...mixin' in young, hungry players...there IS NON f**kin' Hockey to watch.

But there IS "Rangers Classics", bein' shown on Thursdays Nights on MSG Cable.

Plenty o' stuff from '94...ahhhhh...what a BEAUTIFUL THANG!

Anything on NESN from '72, Fritz?
LOL

Remember the SNL Weekend Edition from years ago where they had the black guy lamenting that the NHL would be on strike - "what's a kid in Harlem to do without a Mario Lemeaux to look up to as a role model?"

While missing the Sens terribly (and it's only gonna get worse in the dead of winter), the strike has been a boon for local junior hockey.

I take my boy to the local junior A (Go Raiders Go) game every Sunday, and to the Major junior A (67's)game every other Friday or so.

It's great hockey, played by kids who *love* playing for the sake of playing and maybe a future contract or a full scholarship to a US college. The 67's draw between 8k and 9k for home games and the crowd and venue makes for a great hockey experience.

Then again, if you want a REAL hockey experience, you've got to catch a junior game in a small Quebec rink sometime; it's absolutley fucking nuts.

Yeah, James...I hear ya.

My Nephew, in a few weeks will be playin' 2nd Line Forward as a Sophomore for his High School Team.
He's pretty damn good, too.

My Sister-In-Law is a f**kin' trip at these games.
The ULTRA Hockey Mom.
She's up on her feet a good portion of the game, this 5'2"..130 lb. Blonde Spitfire screamin'..."SKAAAAATE...JEFFFFRRRREEEEYYY....SKAAAAAAATE"!
An' on the occaisons where the checking is turned up a notch...or several...she's shreikin'...."JEFFFFFRRRREEEYYY....KICK HIS FUCKIN' ASSSSSS"!
There are several variations of the above 2 examples.
LOL
She's a pip.

My Brother and I however are usually in too "kynd" a a frame of mind to be THAT vociferous in our cheering.
;-)
:-)

So...bring on Hockey, Baby!!!!!

It's been tough and college hockey has been doin' it for me lately. Go Michigan Tech Huskies.
Also Tech's Football team is in the playoffs and hosting the game this Saturday first time ever for both situations. Not bad considering there Football program almost got cut a couple years ago. They almost went undefeated yet lost at the Bash at the Big House. Tech and Grand Valley tried to set a Division 2 attendance record, they did not succeed.

>>>My favorite sport to watch

Mine too! The players are either too greedy, or the players association too stupid! Really pisses me off.

I also have been cheering on the MTU Huskies (and will be at their football game Saturday). Fills my hockey jones. Ready for HS Hockey too, have a nephew on the Calumet Copper Kings who, unlike the Huskies, have had a consistently good team over the years...many state championships. Hockey is big up here in da U.P.
