Dean? He is anti war isnt he? You really think he will have a chance after being humiliated during the primaries? On the Republican side I am hoping for Mccain, doubt he will run but I dont think anyone would beat him in the primaries or in the presidential election. He is well respected on both sides. But Dean? Come on now you can do better. Obama I think is Good also but he has no experience what so ever and lack of experience cost the Demos this years election.

In 2000, did anyone predict Kerry would be the candidate this year?

A lot can happen in 4 years. I don't think we can predict who will emerge between now and then.

"Obama I think is Good also but he has no experience what so ever and lack of experience cost the Demos this years election.'

Obama has experience hes been in an Illinois state senator. Nobody in the rep. party wanted to run aginst him after Jack Ryan Droped out
so they brought in Keyes, not that Ryan would have won anyway. I think Obama is what this country needs I think he is going to change the party. I think he will wake up some of the 48% who did not vote.

No one.. THe democrats will think long and hard and eventually put another liberal douche on the ticket that cant relate to real americans.. Like Hillary.. I, as a republican, hope to god they have a dean hillary ticket.. that would kick major ass.. theirs of course..

but really.. try for someone that is a real person instead of one of those tree monsters from lord of the rings

Joe Biden is a great choice.

Many eventual Presidents failed the first time around. What better learning experience?

a) the job is Hillary's if she wants it - not that she'd win, but the nomination will be hers on a silver platter

b) Evan Bayh, while a fellow Hoosier, is Republican Lite (like Joe Lieberman) -- not thanks. Though he is the epitome of what many in the party thinks we need to have (moderate, foreign policy experience, heartland, values, etc...). Plus, he'd actually put Indiana into play. Lastly, we need him where he is - if he would leave, that'd surely be one more seat in the Senate we would lose.

c) it's wayyyyyy to early for Obama. Check back in 2012.

d) Ive got it like this:

Hillary 2-1
Edwards 5-1
Dean 8-1
Bayh 8-1
Kerry 10-1
Gore 25-1

However, even money says its none of the above

e) We'll be fighting a major battle against Rudy, Ah-nold, or McCain. Even up, we lose. HOWEVER, John Dobson, Ralph Reed, Falwell, etc... might have enough power - that if they are pissed off enough over a moderate GOP candidate - they might bolt for a 3rd Party. Then the Dems win big regardless (except if its Hillary, the hatred with unite the Right like crazy).

For the record, I think Hillary would make a good enough President, but I think peeps in Blue States and the media underestimate the intense hatred that many people have for her in the fly-over states.

Wes Clark or Bob Graham would have whipped Bush's ass.

I don't expect there will be any election in '08

Bob Graham was a snore-fest. Plus, his little quirks (keeping a diary, his anal-retentive record keeping) would have been blown up in his face.

Clark, who I greatly supported in these-here parts for a long while, is a neo-phyte who was TERRIBLE on the stump. His record, clean - his resume, great -- but the cable media buried him from the get-go. Treated him like a non-issue.

They would have done the same to Graham, but his money-raising and poll numbers made him a non-issue.

Both GOOD MEN, IMO, would have been very fine CICs... but they just didnt have the support to get anywhere.

The Dems got who they wanted cause they wanted a "good closer", a polished pol, and a war hero, and had to have a Iraq Hawk (back when being pro-Iraq was thought to be a must).

The GOP got who they wanted too (and looking at the non-negative coverage that Kerry got prior to him locking up the nomination, that can be seen). Elitist "liberal" from NE who voted for the war. Not very personable who was waaaay too nuanced, had wayyyy to long of a Senate record to pick apart, and doesnt connect 1-on-1.

Yeah, the GOP got EXACTLY who they wanted.

Had Dean been allowed to run (and, again, I was pro-Clark, anti-Dean) and IF (BIG FUCKIN IF) the DNC had allowed Dean to run Left and run anti-Iraq war.... we mighta seen a liberal mandate.

The rest of em never stood a chance in hell.

Initially, I was wary of having Hillary run in 2008 because of the animosity she generates from the Right, which the media laps up like mangy dogs. But she might mobilize a broad enough progressive coalition at the grassroots to counteract the evangelical movement. Then again this dangerous movement might (hopefully!) falter anyway once deprived of their faithful Savior in the White House.

Bayh/Dean or vice versa (which I'd prefer but is I think less likely) would also be an interesting ticket. The ideological blend reminds me of Clinton/Gore.

Oh yeah: either way the golden age of the Democratic Party will start with President Obama in 2012. In the meantime, we've got to stonewall the Bush juggernaut and chip away at their Congressional majorities.

We need to take a page from the Repubs:

Elect someone who professes to be a moderate, then unleash him as a true liberal when elected. Kind of like Bush, who professes to be a conservative but then racks up the largest deficit in history and fails to veto a single spending bill.

The fact that democrats even mention Hillary tells me we don't have a chance in hell in 2008. My ticket? McCain/Obama--either party, they've got my vote.

My 2008 election nightmare:

Hillary vs. Condy

maybe we could move from mud-slinging to mud-wrestling

>>>maybe we can recuit Arnold to play for our team

I love Arnold... he is fiscally responsible, but a social moderate. Definitely acceptable...
Although he can't run for president...maybe someday though....laws may be a changing..

>>>> Hillary vs. Condy

I have envisioned the same scenario.

SCARY!!!!
