Music Talk Archive 2004:
Wilco concert stream on Monday
From Wilco: We'll be streaming Wilco live and direct from one of our favorite venues anywhere --the Fillmore in San Francisco -- on Monday night. Be sure to tune in. The show starts at 8 p.m. pacific time, beginning with Carla Bozulich. You can access the webcast from http://wilcoworld.net/roadcase
Thanx - will definitely check it out - been curious about what they sound like live (but not curious enuff to travel an hour to a show on a work weeknight which is the nearest they've ever come to me).
Wilco are a very talented buch of guys.
Tweedy's a fuckin' genius and the band schmoke.
The new lead guitarist, whose name escapes me, is da shit.
A Ghost is Born is definetely one of the 5 albums of the year.
Even better than Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
Wow...I'll be working that gig...
If I could only somehow get close enough to the mics to give a Zoner shout out.......
Sideshow, if you like the albums it is worth the travel to see them. The guitarist, Nils Cline, has added a nice sonic dimension to the band.

I'm beginning to agree. YHF is my favorite album of the last few years. It took me about a dozen listens to AGIB before it started to sink in, and now I can't hear it enough.
Too right.
I loved YHF but A Ghost is Born just rips.
Certainly some heady stuff.
Is anyone else trying this? I was getting a bunch of studio cuts right up to 8 pm pacific (11 pm east coast) then nothing - dead air - and it's 8:26 now . . .
I'm getting what sounds like studio cuts right now 20:40 pm Pacific.
Still Nada - and I'm staying up WAY late for this - damn!!!! May just leave my 3-hr DAT tape on record and bag it . . .
OK now I got it back after the 3rd reboot (every time I try to exit the feed it locks up my computer - arrgh!) - still sounds like studio cuts though.
WTF is this girl singer jazz stuff? Opening act?
That was Rickie Lee Jones.
We're definately not getting the Fillmore stream.
I got it all recorded and am listening now. They sure sound different now than their early albums (all I've ever heard). Much more like Radiohead/ Sonic Youth now - very dour, angst-ridden. VERY much like The Slip - in fact, I'd have a hard time telling them apart (other than that Wilco obviously has 2 guitars and keyboards while The Slip is a trio). Not really that much my cup of tea but I do appreciate them. Uhhh, yeah, EVERY tune ends with feedback - been there, done that - in the early '90's!!!! I'd still much rather see the band Cake - cynical and dark but happy at the same time - I'm sure bummed I didn't go see them last month (NYC/Boston).
I prefer Uncle Tupelo and early Wilco over the stuff Tweedy is playing these days.
>>>EVERY tune ends with feedback
That was one of the things that really turned me off when I saw them this summer at the Pittsburgh Arts Fest. I was bored to tears with the show. Wilco just doesn't do much for me anymore. Spiritualized is a band that knows how to handle their feedback proper.
The webcast is up on etree. If you don't like the feedback, then ignore this and listen to your Pete Yorn albums.
