Music Talk Archive 2004:
For the researchers
what dead show has the most least played songs?
say that three times fast
a guess: one of the '87 shows w/ Dylan (if that counts)
Shit, some of the '95 shows had a mere six songs in the first set.
Actually that happened alot before 1995.
One show that comes to mind.
03-27-95 The Omni, Atlanta, Ga. (Mon)
1: Picasso Moon, Sugaree, All Over Now, So Many Roads, Let It Grow
2: Iko Iko, Way To Go, Playin> Uncle John> Drumz> Days Between> Sugar Magnolia E: IFTL
13 songs. But many of the pre 70 shows were like this:
03-31-68 Carousel Ballroom, San Francisco, Ca. (Sun)
Caution> Feedback> We Bid You Goodnight
Three songs. But would you consider that a true "Show"?
In true Grateful Dead fashion, its ALL subject to interpretation by the fan.
That's all I got.
I think he met which show contains songs that we played the LEAST in the Dead's repertoire
ie. If I had the World to Give; Money Money,
Cosmic Charley
03-27-95 The Omni, Atlanta, Ga. (Mon)

I can't believe that's a real setlist. I would be so pissed coming out of that show.
In more recent years, I'd say 9-10-91
CC Rider
Train to Cry
High Time
both Verses of Dark Star...
How'd I do?
Ohhhhhhh I reread it and your right Eddos.
Poz
See, here is a PERFECT example of reading the set list and missing out. Yes it is short in songs, but the Sugaree is 22 minutes long and the So Many Roads is to die for.
You really cannot judge a book by its cover when the name of the book is Grateful Dead Setlists.
There maybe a few occasions where it would be prudent. But not many.
As far as the correct answer to the original question, I don't know, but its a good question.
nope. No way to resuce that one. There's only like 4 good songs the whole show. I wouldn't care how well they played 'em, I'd still be pissed. But then of course I'd love having the story to tell of the worst friggin' show ever. And it would be great knowing that the next show, no matter what, would be better!
Yeah
With Picasso Moon, LWTGH and IFTL, its hard to argue.
I guess I have seen some shows with many songs that really didn't do it for me. So I have never really used # of songs as a metric for measuring a show.
To each their own......
Possibly Cap Th Portchester 11/8/70:
Mystery Train-My Babe
Searchin-New Orleans
Amongst others . . .
DAMN it's painful that the soundboard of that run of shows doesn't exist.
>I guess I have seen some shows with many songs that really didn't do it for me. So I have never really used # of songs as a metric for measuring a show>
Agreed for sure. I wasn't going by #, but by quality (or lack thereof).
the bill graham memorial?
or one of the Joan Baez shows in 81. def a guest show either way
no matter how many songs there are its to few. i wish theyd play forever
