I remember a grainy old cassette I had in college (circa...none of your business) with Jerry and John Kahn playing acoustic. Anyone have access to this or know the specifics? Also, any ideas on the next release? And for god's sake, please don't mention politics.

There were many, many acoustic Garcia & Kahn shows.

I believe this was from 82--I also had a show with Fogerty playing on it (Jerry Garcia and friends). Somehow, my memory seems to escape me as to the specifics of such matters. HMMM...

or

The Eel River 91

or

the Warner Theatre 78!

or

the Saddlerock 1982!

Tom Fogerty was in the JGB from 6-26-1971 to 5-5-1973

I think that there were a couple dozen Garcia & Kahn shows in '82.

10/31/86 gets my vote. The first Garcia Coma Comeback show.

the first run of shows in Santa Cruz after the coma were kinda weak. No on 12/31/86.

Make it a Garcia and Merl Show! Or a Legion Of Mary Show! The World Needs Legion!

Either you mean 10/31/86 and you're not paying attention, or you mean The Stone, San Fran shows (which immediately preceded the HJK show I mention) and you're an ass.

Of course this is all subjective and one man's ass is another man's mouth....

:-)

I concur with the Garcia/Kahn thoughts. Those shows are what turned me on. A buddy of mine taped a bunch of those shows and I couldn't get enough. It's also be nice to have a crisp LOM show. I've also suggested a compilation of the arena 1990s shows. Those shows were the last the East Coasters got to see of the JGB and they were pretty good. I haven't seen too many SBDs of those shows in circulation.

there was a 73 lineup that was played on the gd hour jerry khan merl and an unremebered fiddle player and killer drummer . it was sick .
something like that that is basicly unknown .
a big surprise .

I believe the fiddle player was Vassar. Check out this Merle album for some great tunes from all of the above:

JGB toured the East Coast through '93.

I find so many Jerry setlists are so repetitive, that it's hard to get fired up for them, even though the music is awesome. I'd vote for anything that includes tunes that are out of the ordinary.

Anything with "I'll Be with Thee" would rock my world. I think that's become my all-time favorite Jerry tune.

I heard somewhere (I forget now of course), that the next release will be Leigon of Mary, due out next month.

Guess Deborah has some massive Christmas shopping to do.
