i am a transplanted noreastener in the south and the guy is right i could have done without the language but all in all it was quite a rant and i couldnt agree more!

Now, come on, there is some truth to the madness... though I totally disagree with the tone.

Fact is - the region that often prides itself for it's values (at least from the Ralph Reed school) is totally full of shit.

Most out-of-wedlock births, most dependent upon Federal entitlements, highest divorce rates, poorest education, most unhealthy people?

Red States. And, yes, mostly in the South.

Now, many of those states have had a rough row to hoe for a long time (think Reconstruction) but the fact is - they've been sold a bag of shit by the GOP. The very people that the Federal Govt helps the most are the people that like big govt the least.

That's cause Herr Rove and the RNC have convinced many poorer, more rural, whites that damn their wages and healthcare - it's GAWD's will that they vote against the athiest heathens from the North.

The fucking Right started getting the South when Civil Rights popped up and the Right knew it was the ultimate wedge issue... now, it's homosexuals.

DISCLAIMER: This in NO WAY is an indictment of the South. No way, no how. After all, I come from the most "Southern" Yankee state there is (Indiana - dont believe me, check your history) and Im totally ashamed of my backward ass state... but anyway, I have great respect for many of my Southern brethren, even though they need to get over the War of Sedition (that's you, Redneck)

I am split on this - from one standpoint - I agree... get someone from the South (or at least a Red Midwestern state) and play the game that way. But, then again, we had Edwards on the

ticket and he helped dick. But if we want to make inroads, we MUST get outta the NE.

Though I see no one coming outta the South -

i have been racking my head trying to think of who could come from the South/MidWest that had a brain, and some vision to be prez. As you said, none of the sallies in yer list cut it. Well, there is one name being bandied about a lot - Evan Bayh - he's a homegrown Hoosier Dem Senator, pretty fuckin Centrist, VERY popular ex-Gov... good lookin, lots of experience in foreign relations, yada-yada.

However, he's no Leftie. I dont wanna go to the Center. We tried that. We need a true Proggressive voice to rise up.

It would be funnier if the guy wasn't so off on his history. Apparently he never heard of Thomas Jefferson or George Washington, and doesn't know that Virginia was settled before New England. It's hard to be an elitist when you are ignorant.

Not to mention the fact that he seems to equate "red states" with the south. What about the rest of us? I'll bet there are more gun racks and fewer Starbucks in the midwest than in the south these days.

Have yall bothered to look at the county maps of the US.. in every state they are red. The only places they are not are in major metro areas (LA, New York). This whole blame it on the south is bogus.
