Got to Harpers around 930pm and the opening band was already on, the bartender said they were only on for about 5 minutes, so I didn’t miss much. The opening band was Hot Day At The Zoo. A 5 piece string band, I guess fans call their music “ZOOGRASS”. Overall I liked their set they played till about 1015pm, lots of songs about smoking dope and drinking beer, wine, and whiskey. High energy-gritty-urban-bluegrass. I never heard them before, but will look forward to seeing them again, if they come back to the Boston area.

Hot Buttered Rum String band came on about 1045pm and played until 1220am. All 1 set straight through.
I’m not familiar with any of the tunes, just downloaded show the other night to get a feel for them and I’m glad I did, I really enjoyed their set. Lots of fun dancing to their sounds, the tunes are funny but jamming. Well not much of a review but with the lack of knowledge I have of this band, I did enjoy them and will see them again when they come back out this way.

A nice version of “New speedway Boogie” about 10minutes or so long, nothing to fancy on the playing of it but overall I really enjoyed the version they played.

“Two Buck Chuck” was pretty good, they told a story about wine and the cost of it in Cali, and then went into this song, cute little ditty of a tune.

“Reckless Tex” was their last song and they said if Bush loses they will never play that song again, it’s written about Bush and his Texas ways.

I didn’t see one taper, which sucks because it would be nice to get a copy of the show. But overall I enjoyed the night.

Go see them if they are in your area.

I walked to my car and found a parking ticket on it written at 1221am and I got in my car and the clock said 1224am, dammit 3 minutes late. Sometimes parking around Harpers is a pain in the ass, lots of weird parking restrictions for different days of the week. Oh well!
