Yeah, the bonus CD is excellent. But really the whole release is very nice. Tad different with the synth sound but very cool. The only thing I miss is the harmonizing vocals that are missing on Catfish John. But that is of minor detail.

>>>it's a little like the 'original' Merle Saunders combo

except that Ozzie Ahlers is no Merl Saunders - I hate that cheesy synth sound. Other than that it's great. Nice Masterpiece on the bonus disc.

I have to add, after hearing disc 3, that the Promontory Rider with Robert Hunter is absolutely delicious. Jer plays really cool fills behind Hunter, who does the tune real proud by singing like he means it. Yes, the synth sound from the keyboard guy is a bit weird, but I listen to it through Jer's ears and he liked it. Hunter, way to go!

Totally agree, that one is timeless, true and fierce with passion. RH, what a showman!

Damn, I'm still waitin' on mine - takes a while longer to get to the UK (my luck!).

Really looking forward to hearing the show and the bonus disc!

I just bought all the new Garcia stuff - the 2 Broadway discs, Theater 1839, and After Midnight, and After Midnight is by far my favorite. The others are hot, but 1839 is a lot like Don't Let Go, and the sound isn't very good on the Broadway discs. I like After Midnight mainly *because* of the cheesy keyboard player - at least it's new and different. As much as I love hearing Jerry play his solo stuff, I find the setlists are so repetitive that it gets old much quicker. After Midnight has a noticeably different, fresh sound, which I really dig.
