glad I rallied....big nudge from the Bones, support staff was excellent. Much fun had.
Let's do it again....y'all have fun in VT.
it came up SMILING
A Great night of RRE and Zoner's in the Great State of New Jersey. Andy's served the kind brew, John Kadelicik from DSO did a surprise opening act, and RRE rocked the house promoting good vibes from here to etenity. Saw Huck- wearing her colors-LIBERTY-, Bones, Lites, Schmeg, Lude- the respective ladies. Just a great night- much repsect to RRE and the Zoner's.
..looking for setlists..

A smoker from beginning to end, no doubt about it. Great to see the zoner contingent growing and growing at these shows.
After dealin with robin's grandfather's wake and funeral the last few days, this was just the kinda thing we needed to get out and celebrate LIFE, and RRE helped us do that in a BIG WAY!!!!
Also, CONGRATS MEXICALI!!!!!!!!
One year at the new location so it was an anniversary show to boot!!!!!
These guys just keep gettin better and better, and when they kick it around bluegrass style and every instrument gets a chance to shine, ya KNOW its on!!!!!
Woooooohoooooooo RRE!!!!!!!

Nice setlist!!! Glad to hear, as always, it was a great show!! 1month, RRE back on the west coast...wooohoooo!!
show kicked ass!
full house, saturday night and Mexicali Blues' 1 year anniversary party.
...the crowd and band were dialed in on the first few notes. AND THAT WAS PRETTY COOL...hometown crowd, lots of folk trek over 200+ miles to be there. Pittsburg was there..Maryland was on the rail. Matty P. from Maine...the show had one of those "its going to be a classic" feels going in, i think the band felt it, knew it!, and layed out one sweet ass "everything comes together" on us and it all made sense, us and them in that place. GREAT FIRST SET! imo..one of the better first sets ive seen. Plenty of energy, lot of smiles and a tremenous vibe. The philzone was WELL represented on skehan's rail last night..had a little zoner pit going on there, the john skehan and andy goesling cheer section. First tune rail duty's were handed over to Maryland, our guest that evening. Mid Elko Bones had the sweet spot...Stillwater Getaway Huck had it, rail ridin Huck and big smiles!...Butterfly and the Tree Shark had it. And somewhere late that set Lites had it....also popping in and out were Lude, JR and Zeke....AINT NOTHING SWEETER THEN RIDIN ON THAT RAIL!
man that sure was fun everybody. LETS DO IT AGAIN.
love Ridin that rail!!!!!
great time. unbelievable show. great seeing everybody.
i'm still hungover but what a blast.
got some sweet cell phone pics. i'll try and post em a little later.
btw, beautiful day here in nyc.
oohhhhhhh dear. I met yr friend Matty P. .
Nice guy....we'll connect the dots someday....tell I'm that chick with family on MDI who was bothering him outside. HA HA
For real....to meet Queen Jane, to see my friend Lude (next time, I am due to visit YR part of the world)....to meet ZEKE and see JR again....oc a pleasure Mr. Brian D & better 1/2 ;)
Skins....ever so BRIEF, JerMAN, The Great Northern LITES and Rockin Robin, MARRRRRRRINNNNNNO
gotta love Marino! I owe you a drink. THE FINN, how I love that shining smile. AHHHHHH schmegggah. You throw down with soul, brotha, and I respect that.
BonZ - roll m roll m - encouraged me to OOOMPH and go...I wonder if he regrets pushing me into the oncoming lane of traffic, metaphorically OC HEH
I love knowing people like Peggy and John and Jay and Glen....those RRE peeps shinin with full knowledge of the value of the treasure.
The band is full of life and love and spirit, shining smiles. If you like this kind of music, last night was bliss.
So you know that Matty guy. So funny. He's good.
Yeah RRE doesn't suck ...
First impression...WOW!
Coming in cold, as a RRE virgin, I was blown away by this band. Found myself going to that place where you close your eyes, and the band plays your body like a puppet on a string. I'm definitely going to be looking to hear more of this band. Great Live Music - Rockin' the bluegrass, and Rollin' my bones... The lead trades amongst mandolin, fiddle and geetar kept the temperature HOT, and the rhythm section kept everyone's bones hoppin'.
I had a blast meeting some Zoners as well. Lude, Man, what a blast sharing the show with you. What was that DNB you had playin' in the car between sets? Hope you got back to Philly in one piece. Greg, thanks for hooking up the event. Great to meet JerMan, Huck, Lites, Queen Jane, others who's names escape me - what a crew. Let's hear it for stage right, on the rail in front of the mandolin. Couldn't hear too well outta my left ear-hole on Sunday a.m., making choir a bit problematic (not to mention draggin' my tired *ss out at 8:30 after arriving home at 3:00 ;o)), but I wouldn't have missed it.
Welcome to Jersey, y'all. We'll have to do this again :o)
What a great time Saturday night! I told a friend today, that it was one of the best times I've had in awhile. Loved sitting real close with my sweetie on the way up in our new used truck...you took me back a few years, love.
RRE was beautiful--just really on fire. The first set I was really digging the "love" vibe with "Butterfly" and "Dandelion" and then what a great surprise to hear "Old Man and the Land"--I was hoping we might hear it again, since we were back at Mexicali--it just seems like a tune they don't play a lot, but they played it last year at Mexicali too. Same with "Mourning Flies"--what a passionate rendition. I, too, found myself with my eyes closed just feeling the music "waaaaaaaaay down inside."
~Huck~so great to finally meet you--what a fun, crazy girl you are
Wish we could have had more one-on-one dialog...but the music was a playin' and a rail we were a ridin'. Very cool meeting laughing bones and Zeke, too. It's always good to see lites and sweet Robin, Schmegg...I was HURTING on Sunday from that Yaeger
what a ball! Beth, it's always good to laugh with you--I hope we can figure out a weekend this Fall...nice surprise to see Brian and his girl--Zoners were representing! You were missed, Daydream, Dan and Kate...
Love partying with you Jerseyfolk!
Can't say enough about this show.
Haven't seen this band too many times (defintely not enough) but for me this show had one of those "classic show" feels to it.
Rockin fun 1st set. Then they just hit us with THE GOODS in the 2nd.
Long Way To Go-got us off and running, after some SOLID half time festivities outside in the cool September (Garden State) air.
Bird In A House-One of the first tunes by RRE, I have been able to get really into. Todd just took over and the place was locked until...
Seven Story Mountain-MY OH MY, I heard that they played this the night before in Philly so I thought we would not get it but. Holy Shnikies, Lites said it best "RRE's Dark Star".
Mourning Flies-took all the momentum from the start of this set and kept it going. TRIPPY awesome tune.
Railroad Earth-brought things down a little, we needed a mental breather from all the unbelievable jamming. This song just feels good.
Any Road-pretty bent by now don't remember this too well.
Goat-got me going again. back to the fierce knee slappin', whirlwind tornaodo jam. Sweet!
Warhead Boogie-apropo.
The Old Man & The Land-MY FAVORITE RRE tune. For now anyway. But going in if I was "looking" for one tune this was it. I B-lined from the back of the place to "the rail" to ride it one more time for this soulsearching masterpiece.
Head-gravy
Lordy Lordy-onelast pychedelic earth STOMP
E: The Good Life-absoulutely, the good life. Perfect way to end a perfect show.
Thanks again to RRE, and the usual cast of characters, Huck (nice rally), Lites and Robin, Shmegg and Beth, you guys rule and always make any place seem like "our party".
Also finally got to meet quality zoners for the first time; THE JERMAN and Queen Jane, Zeke, Lude and JR.
Also good seeing Bluest Note again, yea Jersey.
NOBODY FUCKS WITH JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>>>Lites said it best "RRE's Dark Star".
thats a skins quote im pretty sure
not really sure who coined it, i get those kneeslappers confused

oh yeah man....but BLACK BEAR....oh, well forget it!
SKINS BRO. WE MISS YOU DUDE!
All I gotta say is...
Its Hard Work
Throwin' Down w/Zoners, that is!
Schmegg, Beth, Jerman, Queen Jane, Huck, Zeke, Lites, Robin, JR, the folks from Rahway? at Andy's (can't remember your names), Bones, sorry if I'm leaving anyone out - great time!
Zeke, Likewise! that DNB was Connelsville Springfest '02 (can't remember the date offhand).
Huckle...always a pleasure...I'd love to see ya out this way! Whacha doing Halloween weekend? Mule at the Byham...
JR, great to talk with you, hopefully things aren't as broken as they seem but time will tell...
Great call on Andy's, Schmegg. Awesome beer selection, didn't burn too much of a hole in the old wallet. I got there early and felt right at home just hanging out with the locals. They pointed me to a 1/2 mexi 1/2 Italian resturant called la Cucina or something, good eats!
Awesome, high energy show...this band really has its shit together up on stage. The interaction is just on another plane. here is my post from this thread in other stuff:
"Indeed! Its amazing the sound they conjure with acoustic instruments, so powerful at times you forget its acoustic. So rich and prescice, then they throw in some mind bending riffage...BOOM! (I was standing next to the bass PA Sat night...What did you say?
)
Another thing is textures, the way they have stuff going on behind the main rhythem and lead - maybe you'll have a single lead interecting with bass and rhythem and behind that the fiddle and a guitar or the mando will be having a "corrolary" conversation. I tried to watch who was doing what but at a certain point I just gave up and lost myself in it.
"
On the way back to my sister's, I listened to NY radio and there was a Scott Muni tribute, they played a bunch of his Beatle blocks, a nice way to cruise down the NJ turnpike and bask in the glow...
Yeah RRE doesn't suck ...
;-)
Glad to see y'all are digging them, I'll have to meet more of yinz sometime ...
Hey Jerman, thanks for the gift before ya left, I wish I could of hung more, but I was staying with the rig, beer & electronics don't mix, unless I'm drinking the beer, heh ...
Big Shoutouts to the Philzone. You guys always bring the energy!!!! Seems like there are more & more Zoners at RRE shows these daze. Thanks to SCHMEGGER for introducing me to a few. Huck!!!!
good to see you again.
-j.. a hobo from nj
p.s. will see some of you in VT. the best place to stay is the Waitsfield Inn. It's directly across from the venue. The place might be sold out, but I'd check anyway.
>>>>>>>they played a bunch of his Beatle blocks, a nice way to cruise down the NJ turnpike and bask in the glow...
helped me get home defnitely. fool on the hill, come together, don't let me down.
(((((((RIP Scott Muni))))))))))))

Skins, sellin' out the knee-slappers for a little punani. CLASSIC!
Where were ya dude?!
What a great show. Only my 4th RRE show and loved them all. I thought this one was a little spacier than the others. A lot of long spacey jams that -- as others noted -- had me closing my eyes and becoming completely enveloped by and with the music. The interplay between the musicians is utterly amazing. Warhead boogie should be played at every show between now and the election. Butterfly and the Tree was downright magical. Good Life is a perfect closer. Ain't it the truth.
>>>>had me closing my eyes and becoming completely enveloped by and with the music.
>>>>Good Life is a perfect closer. Ain't it the truth.
yup,
Zeke! Sorry I missed you. Next time.
Bluestnote,
Me too. Next time indeed.
right on J!
i ran into brian for a brief 30 sec....he was one his way to wash his hands off after chowing down some mexican food.
Hey brian, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY MAN!
Listening to the RRE sampler night after Yom Kippur..it reminded me in a way of Klezmer music..
Not sure what Klezmer music is or why it conjured up that thought..I googled and found of course a bunch of stuff..
This paragraph is sorta humorous and appropriate..
>>..At the middle age, the music instruments were used again at profane events and some joyful religious feasts like Purim, Khanukah or Simkhat Torah. It's asserted that Jewish musicians, professional or not, used to wander through Eastern Europe, from "shtetl" (village) to ghetto to perform at various joyful occasions ('simkhes') like birthdays, new rabbi's or new Tora roll's arrival, celebrity's visit, synagogue's inauguration, circumcisions ('briss') and especially weddings ('khassene'). Often poor and known for preferring alcohol and women to the study of the Torah, they were semi-pariah on the 'yikhes' (social ladder), hardly higher than 'shnorrers' (beggars) and the criminals ('klezmer', 'klezmeruke' and 'klezmeriwke' were used as insults!), but developed also reputation and were greatly demanded: 'Vi der klezmer, azoy di khassene'!
Ha..
http://borzykowski.users.ch/EnglMCKlezmer.htm
woah.
Please someone translate this..>>..'Vi der klezmer, azoy di khassene'!..<<
>>Please someone translate this..>>..'Vi der klezmer, azoy di khassene'!..<<
It means
"We're the band!! The Good Old Blues Brothers Boys Band!"
thats wierd I've got a good buddy with the last name "borzykowski". why is the website named that ?
LOL SI.
We play both kinds, country & eastern ...
;-)
"country eastern"
that was classic.
Ok folks, took a while, and had to crop the be-jeezes out of em to get em to fit, but for a crappy cell phone camera I think this captures the vibe just fine...
That's exactly what my vision was like by the time I left.
It's just missing the kinetic vision I had of them constantly bouncing up and down. Or was that me? ;o)
thanks, bones!
>>>>>>Or was that me? ;o)
I think it was everybody in there

I went and picked up tix to the East Hartford show today (12/11) - $15 and if you buy it at the venue you get a free raffle tix (didn't find out WHAT the raffle is for). This should be weird - it's an old high school auditorium - owned by the town, so it's probably alcohol free. 7 pm doors, 9 pm show - what do they expect everyone to do for 2 hours? Hold hands?
http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/earthboard/message/23324
"We will have available East Hartford's own "Ten Penney Ale" and wine for sale
at the show. You may not bring your own beverages in to the hall, sorry."
