Henry Kaiser's Grooves of Mystery 9/21/04 Ashkenaz Berkeley Ca.
http://www.ashkenaz.com/html/list.php#309 Incredible is all i can say!!I i havent seen Henry for about 5 years. All that ive heard lately was that he was the first human to do a gig in antarctica..with penguins as the audience..Ashkenaz is pure Berkeley..the sign on the way in consisted of 10 lines of rehtoric about why it was uncool to bring in drinks/beers from the outside. The dance center was in full force.,probably about 50 people there total.Henry had the coolest computer rig on wheels..it looked like some sort of giant medical device.Freddie Roulette was THE man playing his lap slide guitar. He played several tunes from his/Henry's Psychedelic Guitar Circus Album including "On Broadway"and "Interstellar Overdrive" And "Alabstor"sic from his collaboration with David Lindley's Music of Madagascar .The vocalist was Carey Sheldon who sang on his "For those about to repeat the past.." c.d. She sang "Ode to Billy joe" and the "Fishin Hole"(theme to the andy griffith t.v. show) The following tunes were played (NO ORDER)...Dancin in the streets>the other one>dancin..a Morning Dew sandwich...with Carey on those vocals...the second set opened with Sleepwalk.. Then a killer "Just got paid today" (ZZ Top) with Joe Rut on vocals and rythum guitar then a killer "Love supreme" jam...i cant remember the rest however Henry was very nice ..he gave me his new C.D."A collection of curiosities for airplay"...and said he would be returning to Anarctica soon..tonite he's playing an Art gallery 2 blocks from my house. with some russian dude who was ther last nite with his translator
